Just give up on the idea of committing suicide you won't succeed and you'll end up in a cycle of worrying your family; causing large medical bills having to go to psych wards , get medical treatment, etc. Eventually you'll come to a point where you won't want to live; you won't have any reason to live however you don't even have the will to want to kill yourself; that where i've been at the past 4~ months since i've been sober. I just exist, i have no purpose i'm just a burden; i guess the only positive thing is i've put away 20 years of negative emotions; and now i'm like an apathetic monster with no emotions maybe that is because i'm sober.

Suicide is selfish, but I understand why people do it. Your family will always remember what you did and be in great sorrow. If you were for example to hang your self, there's a chance that someone in your family will find you hanging. They will have a disturbed mind forever after that.
