Skype - Commands, Group chats, Tips, and of course... Tricks

This is not fully done, I am just pushing it live now :).

Introduction:
I have been joining some skype groups lately and there a bunch of people who don't know the true potential of how powerful skype groups can be some I am going to basically try to translate the skype help page to make it easy for everyone here to understand and use. There are two different types of skype chats that you can have. If you would like to view the official documentation of the skype chat and command system, you can do so here. I am also going to try to include things that have helped me in the past or issues that I have faced when dealing with skype. If you have anything you think would be helpful if it was added to this thread, please let me know and I will get it added.

Thread Index:
Client side skype commands:
  • /alertson [text]
    Use this command to turn on alerts when a specific word in the chat is said, for example, if I did /alertson peekaboi, it would give me a skype notification whenever someone says peekaboi[/*]
  • /alertsoff
    Use this command to completely disable all alerts. This is useful when in group chats that are constantly spamming
  • /find [text]
    This is great when using a mobile app*cation and it does not offer the search function, this basically mimics the search feature on the normal skype app*cation
  • /showplaces
    This is a security feature, it will show other places where your skype account can receive push notifications
  • /remotelogout
    You know that bug where your phone keeps dinging, and you computer, and your tablet? Just use this to disable all notifications except the one your on[/ul]

Skype tricks and tips
  • View debug information about live skype call
    If you are having issues in a skype call and can't figure out who is having the problem you can (while in a call) go to Call -> Debug and it will give you semi-detailed information about every user of the current skype call. It will always give the most information about the host of a call (Not the creator)
  • Skype web application
    Skype released a web version you can use pretty much anywhere (https://web.skype.com/)
  • Run multiple skype applications
    • Open Run -> %programfiles(x86)%/skype/phone/
    • Select the skype application and send it to desktop
    • Right click on the shortcut and add "/secondary" to the end of the path
    • I would add it to the taskbar so you can easily open it
  • Stop skype from lowering your volume of other active devices
    • Open Run -> mmsys.cpl
    • Select the communications tab and click "Do nothing" bubble
  • Organize your skype contacts
    This is not a feature of skype but something I do to keep people organized. Basically whenever you add someone, click their name, hit F2 and at the begging of their name add where they are from with a period. So if you added me from HF, you would change me to hf.peekaboi in your contacts, or however you want to do it.
