The value of groups going down can be seen as a good thing

It's always good to look at the bright-side of things.

Yes the value of groups going down sucks....but hear me out for a moment...

Think of of groups as the housing market.

When the markets is new, everything starts off low, and as demand keeps increasing and people keep moving in, value rises steadily and eventually it get's to the point where their hard to afford. (Let's say this is when groups are were priced 8-12k).

Only the richest 10% of people in said economy can afford to buy houses (Groups), and as the price continues to rise, it gets so expensive that people don't want it anymore.

That's when the crash occurs, and that is where we are heading now.

Yes it sucks for existing owners that the prices are going down, as most owners are at a loss.

But think of this as a new beginning...

With groups getting cheaper, more people will be able to afford them. It'll be a while before the right person/people buy groups and make something worth while that'll stick around for more than a couple of months. (Cough...squad...only lasted like 6 weeks?😏)...

There are always people that have great ideas, but don't have the necessary means to put their ideas into action. (This applies to anything, i.e someone has a great idea for a company but not enough funds or the right connections to start it up, etc). In this case, the means would be the cash. 2-4k for a group is dirt cheap and pretty much anyone would be able to afford it. Hopefully they fall into the right hands within the next few months.

Anyways that was my little soliloquy, this crash is the start of a new beginning.

Carry on with your day.
There has to be a rebound in the market at some point.

If the rebound isn't going to come through increased site activity- that means the groups will need to provide more to their members(money making :)?).

Your example of the housing market is 100% fair, but the market has to have a rebound point- which means groups will have to change to force that rebound or it wont stop dropping.

If the market cant get a rebound point- There wont be a market :P.

When the majority of groups are in the hands of the right people, they'll be less prone to being sold within a few months, hopefully sticking around for more than a year, and slowly increase the prices of groups.

Naturally, less groups for sale = a rise in prices.

Supply in demand.

There's your rebound.

Your post offers nothing to this discussio, and the site isn't dying, its evolving. People need to stop saying the site is dying when they really don't know what they are talking about.

I think there are positives to the crash in the group price, right now a lot of groups are just empty subforums and userbars. With the orice dropping we may see some more great groups rise up.
This shit going down like crayyyy
I hope your right cryptic I'm all for better groups, I'd love to see properly ran groups and them costing $10k.

the only issue with your rebound is the word "hopefully", its quite possible every user that buys a group when its cheaper might do just as poorly as those before them.

I certainly hope someday though your right and groups get into the hands of the right people, I just think that might be a long way away :l.

You clearly haven't see the stats on this forum, and furthermore it's the #1 Hacking Community.
what's the price of a group now?

Well, the most recent group sold was sold for around 5.5k.
I see your point. Those that aspire to have a group, but don't have the means to afford one, could finally purchase a group at a lower price. You're totally right that it could open the market to some legendary group owner, but on the other hand, you are just as likely to get a new wave of terrible group owners.

If one thing comes of this, hopefully a lower average group price means more circulation. We'll likely continue to see groups come and go, but at least that increased circulation gives greater chances of landing on someone who would be fantastic.

For sure there will be more money-hungry people buying groups looking to make a quick buck, eventually they'll fall into the right hands.

thank you, that was actually a useful statistic. Which group was it?
I bought Squad for 7.5k, in all honesty people that want the prices to go down are cheapskates.
People who are not able to afford groups at a high price will mostly just buy a group and then what?
If they have no more money to spend on it then it's probably gonna die.
I invested about 4k after the group was launched and we managed to launch about 80 threads for Squad, even though we lasted only "6 weeks" :).
Just, I don't think prices going down is good.
