I've been using Lightshot for a long time now and i don't plan on switching out. I'd just like to say that with other variations of this, i doubt you'll get far. Best of luck OP!

It definitely is an alternative, but honestly, lightshot works well for me and I see no reason to switch, unless you're gonna offer something better. If you manage to port this to Ubuntu, and make it work seamlessly on a multi-screen setup, I'm all for it.

How someone can develop software and not know which programming language he used is not makes sense. Only explanation is he didn't program it, atleast not all of it.

Lightshot software uploads to Imgur then embeds that image in their web site with advertisements around it. So it is better for you to use software which can upload to Imgur directly and give direct URL to image.

I am new to HF. I am a linux user and I have a huge intrest in learning programming from the ground up. I envy people who write their own programs and I hope to be there someday (and I will, believe that). If anyone has advice for me to start this long journey please let me know. Thanks!

As I mentioned before, I'm pretty sure he just found some source code and edited it or something.
Otherwise he'd clearly now without hesitation what language was used to code this program.
Everyone who codes knows what he's capable of, knows what languages the coder learned himself etc. The fact he didnt even know visual studio is the IDE, tells more than enough. He didn't code it himself. Maybe edited at max (Don't need any knowledge to do that right? just common sense)
