I just bought a new dirtbike to ride with my friends at my moms, so today we're out riding and we happen to be over by a bridge with train tracks and a kid was walking with friends and he had slipped on the open bridge and fell into the Erie Canal and was drowning & unresponsive. His name was Abdul. A buddy of mine and I had to give EMT a ride on our bikes.
Tomorrow I might take a trip down and take some pictures of the scene.

Oh man that sucks.
I feel for the parents still, they'll blame themselves
So you couldn't go ahead and try to save the kid...?

That's pretty sad, you should've at least have tried to do something, imagine that poor kid being unable to do anything and just slowly knowing he's dying, I would've jumped in for sure, even if I couldn't swim I would've done my best to save him.

Unless you would legitimately drown if you were stuck in water that's not a good enough excuse, you could have saved his life and eventually help would arrive for both of you.

If someone's drowning you shouldn't jump in. Because they know they're in danger, they'll push you under to save themselves - therefore you could die.
Why are you guys hating on the kid at least he did something he could have not gave him a ride or anything like yea we might have done more but we didn't so why are you guys giving him hate for doing what he can
smart decision not to help since you couldnt swim. thats the recommended thing to do. Sad story, but good decision.

He said it was a kid, he could've easily taken control and done something, he's older = stronger. You are right to an extent, I could understand if it was a 500 lbs man drowning but we are talking a kid here...

I grew up on a lake & I also have a pool but I've been trying to learn since I was a little kid. I can barely stay above the water. My buddy tried to save him but couldn't get to him.
