Installing linux (with DE and VNC) on VPS, startx

Right so I've spend many hours trying to install Gnome Desktop Environment on Red Hat Linux on VPS.
Red Hat installed with one click from my web panel - cool.
Now I enter through Putty - all okay.
I see no GUI, I tried many tutorials to install Gnome, and they didn't work, the output of command startx is always the same.
However if I'm right there's a requirement for having VNC installed to run GUI on a VPS Linux.
I failed installing it.

That's the output of startx command.

Any help?

PS. I've installed Windows before on this VPS and it worked fine, just too hard on resources.
startx /usr/bin/gnome-session

The output of this command is pretty the same.

Hi, could you try to run this as root?
chmod 4755 /usr/bin/Xorg

Hmm try:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall xorg
sudo rm /home/YOURUSERNAME/.XAuthority*
Try to reboot after that

thats the output, however startx still displays same issues

Is that cause of Putty or VPS maybe?

Pretty sure it's because you're running Putty.
Follow this guide to install TigerVNC and try to connect with a VNC client instead
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/...erVNC.html

I've followed this guide and things failed at step:
11.1.3. Starting VNC Server

I got an error after command:
systemctl start vncserver@:display_number.service

also Tigervnc is being launched from putty isnt it?

What error does it give you?
And regarding Putty/VNC, you need to enable X11 forwarding.
Expand the SSH tree by clicking the + in the connection window.
Select X11.
Check Enable X11 Forwarding.
Here its like:
Connection
SSH
Kex
Cipher
Tunnels

No x11 forwarding here im afraid.

quick update, i installed xming and xlaunch, it showed me one connection in tray when another console showed up, so i had 2 consoles, awww maybe theres something wrong with red hat?
You can't run an X session inside of an SSH client.

I've had good luck with TightVNCServer. Here's a guide for Debian (Just replace apt commands with the yum equivalent (or is dnf the default now? should redirect with yum2dnf)
https://www.digitalocean.com/community/t...n-debian-8

If any of the packages don't install you can google "packagename Red Hat"

And i wouldn't recommend GNOME on a VPS - It takes quite a bit of processing and memory, and will bog down resources that could better be used on tasks on the server.

Openbox, ICEWM, Fluxbox, and LXDE are good alternatives for a VPS . If it were a dedi, GNOME would be more appropriate IMO.
