How to find victim's IP address (Steam)

This is a short tutorial on how to grab an IP from Steam voice chat.

Requirements
  • Wireshark

Before we start open up cmd and type ipconfig and look for your IPv4 Address on the interface that you will be capturing packets on. Mine is 192.168.1.56 we will need this later.

Step 1: Start up Steam and find the user that you want.

Step 2: Open up Wireshark start capturing and type into Display Filter udp. The Steam voice chat uses UDP protocol so this filter will show UDP packets.

Step 3: SE the target to voice chat or just simply start voice chat with them.

Step 4: Look on Wireshark to see if there are UDP packets coming in and out. These are the packets produced by Steam voice chat.

Step 5: End the voice chat and stop your wireshark capture. Look for the packets which are UDP protocol and where the Source or Destination is the same as your IPv4 address from earlier. Once you have found these packets look at either the Source or Destination (whichever one that isn't your IP) to find the victim's IP. Here is an example

Note: I know this IP is just of a Valve server, however when you call another user it will return their IP

Here you have the victim's IP in the Source column as my IP is in the Destination column.

Voila! You have their IP 🤝
This method is very old man :DDDDD

Haha unless they have some vulnerable services running on open ports there isn't a great deal!
Great tutorial, I know a few friends who searched the web for this. Nothing was as straightforward and detailed as this.

Thanks!
Thank you my friend really helping
This is an old method but still it helps thx
This is old, but thanks for it anyway!
Good to know.

But for this i need the target in my friends list. Is there a way to get an ip while being in a match? Over ingame-voicechat or something.

Thx in advance
