Quote:Publisher Kadokawa posted an advertisement for the No Game, No Life Zero anime film at Tokyo's Kokusai Tenjijō station on the Rinkai line before this week's AnimeJapan 2017 event. The advertisement reveals the film's opening date as July 15. The film will have a stage event at the AnimeJapan 2017 event on Sunday.

The film's returning cast includes:

Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Sora
Ai Kayano as Shiro
Yōko Hikasa as Stephanie Dora
Yukari Tamura as Jibril
Yuka Iguchi as Clammy Zell
Mamiko Noto as Feel Nilvalen
Miyuki Sawashiro as Izuna Hatsuse
Rie Kugimiya as Teto
Atsuko Ishizuka is returning from the television anime series to direct the film at Madhouse. Jukki Hanada is also returning to handle the series composition, and Satoshi Tasaki is designing the characters. Super Sweep (Shinji Hosoe, Ayako Sasō, Takahiro Eguchi, and Fumihisa Tanaka) are returning to compose the music at Kadokawa.

Yuu Kamiya's No Game, No Life light novel series already inspired a television anime series that premiered in April 2014. Crunchyroll streamed the television anime as it aired, and Sentai Filmworks released it on home video in North America.

The story of the novel series centers around Sora and Shiro, a brother and sister whose reputations as brilliant NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) hikikomori (shut-in) gamers have spawned urban legends all over the Internet. These two gamers even consider the real world as just another "crappy game." One day, they are summoned by a boy named "God" to an alternate world. There, God has prohibited war and declared this to be a world where "everything is decided by games" — even national borders. Humanity has been driven back into one remaining city by the other races. Will Sora and Shiro, the good-for-nothing brother and sister, become the "Saviors of Humanity" on this alternate world? "Well, let's start playing."

Kamiya launched the light novel series in 2012 with his own art after illustrating another light novel series that spawned an anime, A Dark Rabbit Has Seven Lives (Itsuka Tenma no Kurousagi). Kadokawa released the ninth novel volume in August. Yen Press is publishing the light novel series in North America, while Seven Seas Entertainment is publishing Mashiro Hiiragi's manga adaptation

Never going to get a season 2. That is why they are finishing it with a film. Will be a good film though.

That is what it seems like so far.

No Zero is a prequel of how Tet became the new god. Season will be most likely funded by these sales.

I'm sure this is just the prequel for a S2, this is most likely their way to engage the audience to see how interested they are in the series as well as to milk out whatever profit is left in the event that it isn't.

Just waiting for season 2 honestly.. One of my favorite animes.
Oh come on guys, this anime has the potential for tons of seasons and you make a movie out of it D:< we should challenge the production studio in a game, if we win then more seasons it is, if they win then more movies <(o,o<)
Have a cool signature? hit me up and I might use it.

Sadly thats not how it works. It also has to sell. If something doesn't profit, it likely wont continue.

Maybe we should start crowd funding for certain anime series?? just like they did with that neko para... damn totally forgot about that, going to check what's going on with that movie D:

Sad, I was waiting for season 2 since I finished the anime :(
But I guess a movie is better then nothing, except if it will be disappointment.

I read somewhere that the author is sick and won't be a season 2.

Neither is there existent manga material.

Crowdfunding is a good idea. It really shows the producers what fans want. It worked great for Little Witch Academia, and uh, Underdog... Pity Underdog didn't deliver though.
