Product Purchase Validation

Would it be helpful to sellers if I did the following?

Create page where members have a dropdown for a product/service and they enter a serial. Once it's submitted HF will send your page (from the dropdown) an http request which the seller can use to connect the product to a user. May even be possible to setup a PM sent to the user with a serial number in return.

This would be possible because we wouldn't be facilitating any payments nor relaying any actual products.

I admit the idea isn't flushed out very well because I am distracted by a dozen things but it has occurred to me that it's possible to do this without violating HF security and allowing sellers to ensure buyers are the HF members.

This is a poorly written post. I don't think I've explained it well and I don't have the time to properly write this up at the moment. I really just wanted to note my concept and get feedback if this would be useful to the community.
EDIT:

I had to reread it, I do like the idea but it would cool for us to make customer serials or enter ones for our systems?

That already exists on HF, lol

If I understand correctly, it could be useful. Would help keep more proof on site and would be a QoL improvement for many.

Hence the edit, I realized after the fact
And on the topic of the OP, I'm not following at all nor sure where it'd expedite anything.

Try posting a usage flow maybe?

Yes yes yes and yes! Would love to have this.

I mean like, It would be awesome to be able to know the HF of someone who makes a chargeback from an auto-purchase product or such. They get away with it way too often.
Simply put, what you want to do is the following: Allow people that are browsing a users' sales thread, being able to select a dropdown, enter the serial that they were given upon purchase, allowing the seller to verify what HF member bought his product, making communication and information-giving a lot easier. What you also want to do, is have it being able to send a private message once the buyer verifies this 'serial.'

Is this correct? If so, then this is an absolutely genius idea, and should undoubtedly be added. The feature would allow sellers, who explicitly sell their product on HF through an automated purchase site, to verify who on HF bought his product. This could help in terms of anti-leak, fraud, relay information and just general support. Fantastic idea.
This is just perfect, if I'm correct, it's to basically identify the buyer? User purchase a license--> Apply it on the dropdown---> Release the product or do a http redirect.
I may have picked this up wrong: I would sell a product and give the user a code, which they would enter on HF and verify who they are, then they would be sent a PM with a download link/serial code for a product.

I do like the idea of verifying who is who.

Might be a good addition to the marketplace to help prevent scams, I do think PayPal chargebacks have been getting ridiculous as of late.
Similar to a "sign in with facebook/google" button?
still lurkin. still bitcoin cashin.
This would be extremely useful and make my life and many others more efficient.

Sounds like that's the idea but without requiring a user to enter credentials in an attempt to prevent phishing nonsense.
Would be amazing.
Some cunts have been charging back, and / or used stolen PayPal accounts to pay for my products / services.
Would be nice to have a name on them.

This feature would probably scare said cunts away.

1. Buyer makes purchase on your site. They have to add their HF UID.
2. Your system upon payment completion can send HF an API Call which will include 2-3 custom vars like serial number or product key or just some random code.
3. Buyer gets a PM on HF with the vars you sent.
4. Buyer on HF goes to the dropdown page to confirm receipt.
5. HF sends you the code back which now confirms that the sale was indeed with the account owner.

This could be used to register products and connect them directly with HF UID's.

And mind you again, I'm typing this up fast without more than a moments thought. So it's not 100% thought out.

Correct.

Correct. That's my concept. It can be done because I would not in any way be a middleman in the deal. Just a verifier of purchase.

Correct. Apparently my half-brain is working well enough.

I already do without any problems. It's called TUNNELS! And of course instructions for sites would be to ensure they only whitelist the tunnel IPs. This would not be too much of an issue for me to secure.

Yes and no. Mostly no.

I agree. Would improve the Marketplace and that's why I'd do it.
