The Report system here seems to cover most situations but I feel like there are a few edge cases where you can't really decide, or don't know, what to report someone under. The solution? Adding a text box that can be filled in, if needed, with any details behind the report. Staff would be able to see this and it could hopefully make sorting through reports easier for them as they wouldn't have to inspect the thread and find the broken rule, as you would be able to just type it in. I am not experienced at all with coding but I can't imagine this would be a huge task, but I could be wrong. I believe this would be a useful quality of life change for both members and Staff.
Here is just an example of what it might look like:
I'm not sure if this, or an idea similar, has been suggested before but I took a look through the previously suggest/denied thread and couldn't seem to find anything quite like this.
Curious to see what other members think of this idea and if it would benefit them.
I have a feeling when reporting someone there is a specific reason for it, staff can determine themselves if it is valid or not. Adding this will add so much potential to troll and spam staff.
I like the idea, but it's unlikely it will be added.
DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS MEMBER
As much as I'd like this I don't see it being added.

I like the idea, but it's unlikely it will be added. I doubt anyone would just shit-talk and/or troll Staff through it. I can see them getting punished quickly. Either way appreciate the input.
I see it being abused a lot.
I'm also pretty sure I've seen this suggestion before which was denied, if I'm not mistaken.

I like that idea. I think that sometimes the breaking of a rule is very well covered and at first glance the thread looks okay.

I think most users are smart enough to not abuse it as it would be easy to punish anyone who did misuse it. Really? If you could provide a link that would be great. As stated in the OP I did search through the denied suggestions searching for the keyword 'Report' but couldn't find anything similar to this, unless I'm blind.

Most of the time it is easy for both Staff and members to just report and be done with it but in a small percentage of cases I feel like being able to add an explanation or a few words behind the report could save some time for both parties.
Fairly sure that's the original way to report with MyBB and the report system here is modified to only allow a drop down.
As useful as it may be, if the post is violating a rule surely it doesn't need any extra information? If you're going to highlight a rule or something surely the staff already know the rule?
Yep, will definitely help Staff sift through reports faster being able to know exactly what they're looking for.

As I said previously, this probably only applies to 10% or even less of reports. Most infractions can easily be identified with the report categories currently given to us but I feel like for those small percentages of cases, being able to add notes could be useful.

What you're suggesting applies to maybe 1% of reports. In a lot of reports, even the report reason is not correct (and there is an option for a correct reason) and if we implement this, we'd have to read more unnecessary text. It would slow us down.
If there isn't an option you're looking for, report as Other and it'd be dealt with if it warrants an action. 🤝

It was a blast being on staff. I stepped down as it's time for me to move on. I wish you all the best and if you were hit by my warnings and/or bans, it was nothing personal.
Peace out!
