[Suggestion] Add Comment to approval/denial reason for group application

I have been leader of a couple groups now, and from my point of perspective, a large issue is "Blind add requests" to groups.

I understand why the feature is not removed, but none the less constantly having to review blind add requests for leaders can be annoying.

So simple suggestion.

Allow us a comment field for users to specify why they were allowed/denied to the group.

Available to group owners/leaders only.

Simple zen, and makes group management 1000% easier.
Sounds nice. You should link this thread to other group owners and see if they agree with you. Surely your votes together account for more.
i thought adam or someone did make a userscript to already do this

and would probably just be abused by group owners in some form or fashion just like junking threads was
Cool suggestion, but if anything I would rather have a PERMA DENY button or something so the people who spam apply can be blocked.
The only annoyance I get is from people who apply after being denied over and over.
If you really want to tell a user why they weren't/were accepted you can PM them.

Well central thought here is every group has their own focus right, You may deny a user another group may want, but it is helpful to know WHY that user was previously denied to another group.

Helps us filter members better, overall.
I own a group and I've personally never accepted anyone who's just applied via UserCP in my opinion a on/off switch for requests would be much more useful cause simply if you applied via UserCP you weren't accepted because you applied via UserCP.

Legends takes this approach too, but notes still would be helpful.
"User applied Via UserCP"
"User failed to follow group rules"
etc...
That sounds like something that'd be best handled by userscript, rather than an actual site feature that Omni spends time implementing.
It's easy enough to keep track of it in notepad or something similar without spending hours developing it.

If you require it that badly, do it in Notepad, or make it yourself.

(It's not a bad idea tho, I support the idea, but not implementing it)

Well, the reason for the suggestion over user script is leadership and ownership turn over.

I might deny someone, leave the group or leave the site, and the remaining leaders or new leaders would not know the exact reason for the denial to make a decision.

This scenario gives shitty members unlimited attempts to get in to a group for whatever reason without group leaders and owners clearly talking to one another regardless of reason.
So you're suggesting a field where we can enter why a user was denied/accepted? Only owners/leaders have access to edit the field, but the user in question who applied will also be able to see?

I think that Armada is suggestion where only owners/leaders can see.

But It would be nice if the user would also be able to see the reason.

I agree with this. As a leader / owner of the group I am not a fan of random join requests. There has never been a time when someone applied and I was like hmmmm.... He's got a good point, let's add him. I'd rather have the option to turn join requests off if anything. Any new features added to anything regarding groups is a potential positive. Would this feature come in handy for some? Yes, but I just deny everyone I see anyways. I'd rather have the option to automatically refer them to the recruitment thread or state that we're not recruiting or for some groups invite only.

Similar suggestions have been made in the past regarding this issue.
Omniscient's responses to them (Dates aren't right, as I couldn't grab the dateline. First one is from 2016, second one 2015):

I am pretty sure it's all on his TODO list for after we upgrade to MyBB 1.8

I'm in the same boat as Views. Whilst I wouldn't say no to this option, just disabling the useless system would be better imo.
Wouldn't stop people applying from UserCP even if you give them the reason. Don't think this suggestion would be useful enough to be worth the time to set it up
