Over Clocking

i7-7700k OC Voltage Question

I managed to get my i7-7700k to OC with 4.8ghz using 1.210v, but I wanna make sure this is correct and working normal

so far running realbench with no crashes my voltage value is switching from 1.200 to 1.216 (even tho I have it set to 1.210) on HWMonitor every other second when heavy load occurs and after the load is let off is this normal? Or is the jumping bad?

does having my voltage this low for a 7700k at 4.8ghz un heard of or not normal?

I wanna make sure I don't damage my CPU

4.8Ghz on 1.210 V???? Damn you hit the jackpot.

That's a perfectly acceptable voltage. In fact, it is amazing that you can reach such a high clockspeed on such a voltage.

Most acceptable voltages range from 1.2V to 1.35V. For reference, my 4770k is running 4.3Ghz on a 1.235V core.

Well damn awesome then lmao, for some reason running realbench stress test around 27min the program crashed no idea why tho

Try something like AIDA64 or Intel XTU to stress test.

If the program is crashing but Windows is fine, then it's a software issue. If the program freezes and Windows is unresponsive or BSOD, then your overclock isn't stable.

I got mine clocked at 4.8Ghz at 1.235 wich I could possibly lower a little.
I've ran aida64 for nearly 12 hours untill I stopped it myself.

Usually one wants to OC the CPU, then lower the voltage to the point where it's still stable. If yours is stable at 1.21 there's no need to lower/raise your voltage as it's gud

lower voltage = lower temps (wich you want on a 7700K)
If this is true then you got a really good chip.

But as others have said are you 100% certain it's stable?

Run Aida64 for 10-12 hours (overnight) and post a graph of the temps.

What cooler are you running and what are your temps like?

i've ran AIDA64 for 5 hours and max temp I got was 62c but I don't think AIDA is a good reliable stress tester cause I was able to pass AIDA running 1.200V for 2 hours but the second, I ran Realbench I got a instant BSOD

What are you testing in Aida64?

To properly stress with Aida64 you need to run the for in the top left like this:

What cooler are you running?

If you are very confident that it's stable then run x264 16T overnight.

I recommend running x264 looped overnight, if it passes, it's stable. Run it, sleep, wake to see the test still running.
Download, unzip and run, there is a readme inside to tell you what options to pick, try the 16 thread setting.

I run all but FPU due to it stressing way to much, I use real bench to handle my hard stressing

lol "stressing too much".....

lol

Check my edit.

I heard from multiple people that running 5 hours in realbench which stress's pretty hard passes a stability test, but other people were saying to be caution of AIDA64 and Prime 95 as they can bring to much heat to your CPU, I personally wouldn't feel comfortable running my CPU un-delidded for that amount of time on a Kraken water cooler

The people talking about P95 got bad info.

With Haswell CPU's they were causing excessive heat but that was because of the instruction list of the CPU, Skylake and Kaby Lake are fine for P95.

If you are uncomfortable then it isn't stable.

Will my temps be alright? That's the only thing I care about

There's 1 way to find out. Using Aida64 With FPU
