Is this a new trend? Have only seen it recently...$ETH, $STRAT, $BTC, $XRP, for example.
I don't middleman any deals on- or off-site. Please don't message me requesting my past services and certainly don't fall for anybody who claims to be me.
I have seen a few people doing this, I do not like it though :p

I agree, it's redundant. I think it means something when used in the stock market but I can't pinpoint the reason.
They're cashtags?

So why are people using them outside of Twitter? 😧

AFAIK it's only to hot link.
Pretty gimmicky to use it for cryptos.

I use the $ in twitter, I don't think there's anywhere else that use it.
For example i was just looking up GameCredits on Twitter , it was a lot easier to find $GAME, than GAME? You get me?
Well, maybe they think it's PHP variable? XD
Have a cool signature? hit me up and I might use it.
Yep, this is a Twitter thing. No use outside of twitter though.
ETH is a different currency than the Dollar, so I agree that it does look a bit weird when it's not regularly used. Same for BTC, XRP, and STRAT.

Because people think it's suppose to carry over off twitter.
