Broken search function?

I don't know if it's just me, but the search function does not work correctly. Some things search fine while other things do not. Here is an example of me trying to find a thread using the search:

I see people in the rat section who tell people to use the search function, but it does not work correctly and therefore makes it difficult to find answers.
Make sure to change this setting:

By default you're only searching for threads created within the past year.
Try adding more filters to the search. It works just fine, here is Omniscient's response to that: https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?ti...id54196534

(I found this using the search funciton,)

Yes, the search feature is terrible for everybody. For now you can use Google's advanced search or use modifiers in your search query.
I don't middleman any deals on- or off-site. Please don't message me requesting my past services and certainly don't fall for anybody who claims to be me.

Still doesn't work lol. Google works fine though so I'll just use that instead🤝

I found the thread you used in your example by simply changing that setting.

I am confused, it works if you just search mega rat but if you search mega rat 1.5 it doesn't. 😵

Anyway I appreciate your help, I'll stick to Google and such 🤝
The search function has difficult reading special characters such as '.'

It actually doesn't read them in the search function and is instead querying: Mega Rat 15, which obviously doesn't exist.

I believe it has similar issues for other special characters. I actually think it doesn't read anything after the full stop.

Take for example the query: 123

It works!

Now: 1.2.3

Quote:One or more of your search terms were shorter than the minimum length. The minimum search term length is 3 characters.

So it appears it is ignoring everything past the '.'

Ah, makes sense :) thanks for telling me

I was a little confused at the beginning. I don't think it reads Mega Rat 15, I think it reads Mega Rat 1

Search function completely dismisses the dot I believe which is something I don't like about it.

It's like that on a lot of forum software (like IPS) and this makes the Search function a real PITA to use. Even spaces aren't considered sometimes. So if you want to search for a two words thingy and there's a space with it, you're fucked. Even using Google Dorks is easier at this point.
Fiat justitia ruat cælum

My era of providing technical support and malware removal on HackForums is over, so you can stop PM'ing me about it. Sorry.

I believe it actually finishes the search query once it encounters a '.'

So the likes of: MyBB 2.0 Release

Will read as: MyBB 2
