Feeling Depressed About Starting College

Tomorrow I start my first day at college. The orientations were shit and served zero purpose. I made this thread because I'm actually kinda depressed I have to start college. I realize it will be better than high school, but I'm going to a branch campus in the middle of nowhere. I feel like I'm wasting my life. I hate other students, I don't believe I will make any friends. I'm majoring in Information Systems and minoring in Computer Science, but classes for these don't even start until my junior year. What the fuck is the point of taking an econ class when I'm a goddamn Information Systems major? Anybody else feel like college is a waste? I'm curious to see some responses from people in college that feel like this as well (if there are any).

Depends what your going to college for. Also having a negative attitude won't help you make friends mate.

What are you majoring in?
Well it's all on your outlook bud. No ones going to walk you through life. It's about experiences and trying to live the happiest life possible. If it didn't make you happy why did you go to a branch campus in the middle of nowhere. Who knows you might find your next best friend. Do what makes you happy. I'm in the exact same degree as you, but I am minoring in biology. I asked why did I need to take econ aswell man. But life is all about hardships and finding your way through it. Best of luck op

Information Systems. You're right about the negative attitude thing though.

I've had an extremely rough past four years of my life, it's why I see things in the realistic yet negative way. I chose the branch campus because my tuition is completely covered. Good luck to you as well, man.
I don't think you should look at it the way you are. If you look at it that way you won't do very well at all.

Chances are the liberal arts/English classes you are going to be taking are going to be awful and filled with political influencing. Live with it. Take the classes, do your best and you won't regret it.

When it comes the time that you take the classes that are part of your major you will have the best time in college you'll ever have and I mean that. The people teaching those courses will most likely be very happy to be teaching them. That was the case for all of my engineering and science classes.

Since you're going to a smaller college you'll have a better experience, trust me. You will make a ton of friends that are in your major. Join a club that relates to your major if there is one and work on projects outside of class with the people in your classes.
Electrical / Hardware Engineer. Need something made? Have an idea? I'm your guy.
Are you being forced to go to college?
College is an overrated.
Everyone says its the best 4 years of your life but I don't think thats true.
If you really don't want to attend college you should drop out and pursue your dreams, ONLY if you know you can achieve your financial/career goals without college.

Just because you had a shit time in college dont fucking tell him to drop out...Thats how you fuck up your life if you are not really lucky or you get stuck at fucking burger king and make burgers that you probably cant even afford yourself.

Finish college, get a degree and find a good job, or go to university (if you can afford it) and then get a better job. Its only 4 years, find friends with the same interests which should not be hard if you are in a class with people who want to do the same thing as you do and enjoy the time that you have left until you have to go to work.

Fuck everyone who tells you to drop out of school and follow your dreams, finish school and fulfill them.

Take your username and use it to end your own life. Telling someone to drop out of college is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.
I'm jealous of my friends going to college.. but I'm making more than my father with a masters degree in business does at 18 with no college. Getting a job might be the right route for you man
I fuck with WiFi Gang.

It's not a bad idea. College is not for everyone. Unfortunately there's some stupid people like you that don't realize that.
