Yep, that's what Omni said few pages ago.
You're not wrong, he said this in response to one of my questions;
Quote:They aren't causing the most harm. It's actually outside of the Marketplace where there could be a long thread and the content is edited years later by a member who wants to remove their footprint or change their reputation by having a fresh start. It's damaging to our site SEO rankings when that content is deleted or altered to be gibberish.
Damn I love this feature to edit threads :( Maybe we can PM a staff member and let them change it or is that a nogo?

Meh. The marketplace took the same hit as any other forum. >> Example
This is sad.
Too many dumb fucks apparently.

Was going to say no initially just like how pming staff to junk threads is a nogo, but I realized those two things are incomparable.
This is an interesting proposal that would actually solve the problem, but perhaps Omniscient should have a small set of "editors" to handle that instead of Staff.
Hell, I wouldn't mind helping out with that 😁

Check the dates. Also truth be told, who gives a fuck for SEO on a sales thread? It was an image anyway, it's worthless compared to the actual content, for example tutorials people used to post and then edited it which I believe was the reason for this thread.

Even though I suggested the same thing on like page 2 or 3, I'll let him take the credit. :P
As I also said before, you can even just bring on a new staff member to handle these sort of 'reports', same way like some staff members used to focus primarily on certain areas, like reputation or account security.
Nevermind I think whatever Omni did is cool because no matter how many good options you find for community, someday some asshole will abuse it for sure.
I think we all should wait for sometime and see if we really need edits. It's not like edit option is completely removed.

The junk feature was removed, so people started editing threads.
What is next? Who wants a guess?
This, if you can't junk a thread and want its content gone what do you do?
Edit it to jibberish to satisfy the 20 character minimum.

I can't speak for the rest of us but I would be down to help with that. A know a lot of mentors lost activity after they couldn't move threads anymore because they said they just weren't doing much anymore. It could bring some back.
That'd be up to Omniscient's trust though. Giving all Mentors the ability to edit other users' threads is probably too much power to hand over. He might want to give that ability to a smaller subset of users, like "Editors" or something. I don't know if he'd want Staff to be bothered with it.

Who... Who gives a fuck... for SEO on a sales thread?.. Yes. Aah great argument.
Just because your sales thread only contains images, doesn't mean that all others do. Open your eyes, stop being delusional and selfish.
You are only thinking about YOUR one sales thread.
That's where i'll stop reading your posts. Thanks.

Credit where it's due, sorry I didn't read your post!

This is actually a pretty cool idea, though it will make the whole situation more complicated then it needs to be.
It's best to just see how this new restriction works out first, before expanding it.

Or just make it so you need to log it in the mentor SF 😈
