EDIT feature Limited

Swear if I come across one of those edit abuse users I'm gonna rip there head off.

I don't like this, but it's best for the site to keep it's quality.

That'd be up to Omniscient's trust though. Giving Mentors the ability to edit other users' threads is a lot of power to hand over. He might want to give that ability to a smaller subset of users, like "Editors" or something. I don't think he'd want Staff to be bothered with it.

I don't know how many people remember but few years ago a mentor (Morchid) edited some users sales thread and changed autopay links and Bitcoin addresses.

It was a rare incident but that was the reason Omni removed edit ability from mentors group.

Eh, then you'd have the same problem where if one goes rogue you can't stop it, only punish the user. This is what Morchid did and now Mentors cannot move threads.

The reason why I'd suggest a smaller set of users is because editing threads is much more powerful than moving them. If we can't move them, then we sure as hell shouldn't be able to edit them. Moved content can be recovered - edited content cannot.

I do not think it'd be a good idea to give the whole Mentor group this power. There are more Mentors than you think and they are simply not active. Giving that power to 20 users who are inactive is not a good idea at all.

And here we have an example as to why this power should be highly restricted. Currently Omni only trusts Staff with that power.

I see it working like the Reputation System, you can do a few edits once a thread is created, but once you reach a limit there is a cool down from then on. I'd say only 2 edits in case somebody screws up when making the thread.

Would most likely require a custom plugin I'm guessing though I don't know very much about current plugins or MyBB settings.
yes make it so every edit u do costs rep to do so. will slow it down

Just because your sales thread only contains images, doesn't mean that all others do. Open your eyes, stop being delusional and selfish.
You are only thinking about YOUR one sales thread.

That's where i'll stop reading your posts. Thanks.

That's unfortunately the one and only valid argument here. You should open your eyes and go through sales threads and see for yourself. If I recall correctly, you had a sales thread as well, and guess what? IT WAS IMAGES ONLY. What's this for when 3 months ago you did the same thing?

I'll stop reading your posts, whatever got into you thinking you're above anyone else is your own concern. Stop being a bitch, you know damn well I speak for majority of people around here selling things and they'll come forward and prove you wrong, I've been selling here long before you even joined so you should at least consider what I'm trying to point out, no need to agree with it.

Fun fact is you're a mentor, you should at least be objective and helpful towards community and accept anyones opinion and process it with respect, but I guess you're just another mini-mod in RANF section pretending to help people by copy/pasting Help Docs. No need to point out I hit a nerve there. Cheers.

I think I just came.

& Omni, do you have any idea if you will allow r3kt/mentors(?) more days or it will stay 90 as for ub3rs? Thanks.

You made some great points. I agree that mentors should be above that.

In his last post in this thread he actually mentioned he is considering giving R3KT users and Mentors more days.

Yeah, I just read the entire thread and saw his post, sorry.
No one will be editing threads for others. I don't allow that Even Staff are instructed not to edit member content.

Everyone just have to adjust to the new reality that post editing is now limited.
Thank you for making this Omni. I finally think I can browse old posts and see useful tutorials/threads not being edited anymore :)

I really hope it will help stopping those stupid useful thread edits.

Fair enough, that's an enormous amount of power to give someone. We will have to adjust to this solution.

- Bother staff trying to get them to edit the thread for you, if they would even do that (they won't, obviously).
- Post a new thread and lose much credibility, lose all vouches, comments, questions, answers.

You thought having a 2 year old thread with 500 replies was good?
Did you actually think (new) users filter threads by most replies?

- Think again, a fresh thread with 0 replies where you have to quote things from your other thread stands out more.

So you found out you accidentally posted some confidential information about you in an old thread?
Maybe in what country you lived, what you like, if you have a sister? Information that can help people dox or harm you?

- That's too bad, because you'll have to bother staff and try to convince them to remove or edit that content for you (they won't).

^ Take this with a grain of salt.

I do have to say I will now think twice before I consider posting.
Maybe I'm rambling, it's late..

1) New post(not thread)

2) You could always link your old sales thread.

3) If you post your details in internet then expect HARM, your fault not HF's.

Finally someone else realizing the same thing I'm trying to point out. If neither of that works (it wont) you have to rely on dynamic image hosting, and even if hosting fails, you need a new thread, and a new hosting. Makes HF usage extremely complicated for selling. I'm gonna end my posting here, Omni said we have to adjust, the least we can do is try though, however it's unfortunate that it will eventually kill the Marketplace or overflow it with utterly retarded closing/opening of new threads that will in the end put yet another restriction to it due to extreme amount of LQ threads (duplicated threads). Too many changes happen in a single sales thread on a daily basis, remove us that function, people will cross-post, avoid 24h bump limit, Staff will have to spend 10x the effort on reports as they used to.

1) Very few checks that.

2) None checks that.

3) Wont comment that one, it's common sense.

This is sellers POV and I can confirm this is the case, while tehnically it may work, in reality, it does not.

I am unsure if you know but Omni stated multiple times that marketplace is all on your own.He won't get involved into those things therefor he wouldn't care for your products. It would be a good idea if he would allow like editing of threads for more amount of time in marketplace but I doubt Omni would do that, it's all up to him.

I love the new header (Halloween) literally got updated when I was refreshing x)
It would be nice if R3kt users had an even further extended time, as theoretically those are the users that would be less likely to change quality content.
