Listening to police scanners

Any other HF member does this as background noise? I listen in just to see if there's any shit going on near me or anywhere I am about to go to. Plus if a dindu nuffin shows up in my backyard again I'll smack their head into some doggo shit. Keeps me informed and aware of the weak criminal punishment the state of California has.
Needs more dragons and shit
In solidarity.
Every now and then and I'll drive out to shooting or something but rare in my area
That's not cool to be racist. Anyone of any race could show up in your backyard.
I use to listen to them, but nothing really never happened so it got boring.
I used to when I was younger, but I got bored of it pretty quickly.
Remember Me as you go by
As you are now so once was I
As I am now so shall you be,
Prepare yourself to follow me

Yes, I have one in my room that is on 24/7, covers all police in my state as well as state police & SWAT channels. Just like knowing whats going on before anyone else. Pretty sad to hear all of the suicides & overdoses though.

I think he was making a joke. What do you use to listen to the police scanners? I don't have a physical radio. I was wondering if there was an app of sorts I could use. Maybe I'll check my local police station's website, see if they have a stream or something.

Apps because buying the hardware is stupidly expensive if someone's already broadcasting it.
Most police and all goverment law enforcment transmissions are encrypted these days, you can probably get your local small town police and ham radio with a scanner.
My local police dept encrypted their radios a few years ago. Before that we used to enjoy listening in.

Once my uncle who's a bit mental was getting arrested taken to mental hospital after spewing some nonsense and threats which ended up with the cops looking for him and calling him out of his house, I was listening to the police scanner and this is what dispatch says:

"[Uncles first & last name] is on the line, he wants us to "get the fuck off his property"."

Thought it was hilarious hearing it live.

Nowadays? I'm just here for the nostalgia.
Not anymore. A few years ago the Danish Police changed their radio system to SINE which is a closed network, so it's not possible to listen anymore.

In my country they use encrypted voice so you can't hear anything...

Pretty crazy what you can hear. Over heard a suicide, GTA, and a man dying at Walgreens. They even sometimes say license plate numbers over the radio.
