The end of DrizzyBot

What a ride.

I started DrizzyBot all the way back in 2014. I wholeheartedly believe it was the first Skype bot to actually go mainstream and caused all of the Skype bots that came out afterwards. If you remember a while ago, there was a time in the "Skype" section of this site where you'd see a new bot every day. I believe that was because mine became so popular. Before I took down the Skype bot, it had over 10k contacts. Unfortunately Skype doesn't tell you how many you have now, but here's a GIF of me scrolling through them (these don't include the hundreds/thousands of pending contact requests):

So what happened?
Well, DrizzyBot was gaining popularity FAST (getting spread around Google, YouTube, etc). Since it was free, it was hard to keep it up with its increasing need for resources and computing power, so I decided to take it down. That's where I got the idea to make a "premium" membership. The premium membership was a mere $5/month and had access to a stress tester. So I put the bot back up and started advertising the membership. At first I was doing sales by hand, which quickly got overwhelming. So I launched DrizzyBot.com. This was my first actual web development project, and it turned out to be a huge success. I used an autobuy function to allow users to purchase membership without the need of contacting me. The money started rolling in quickly. I started making partnerships with stress tester owners here on HF to let me use their servers in exchange for advertising.

All was going well, but popularity started to drop. I started thinking to myself ideas to spark interest again, and that's when I came up with the famous "dox" command. Put in someone's Skype username and it'd give you everything it could find on it. The response was HUGE. So big in fact that I decided to create an entirely separate dox tool (as you've probably seen here on the forums).

Dox tool V1
I released "V1" of my dox tool here on HackForums (OP). At first, I got a lot of backlash because it was coming up as a virus on multiple scanning websites. It didn't help that a well-known whitehat "hacker" at the time, MaiTriCks, did an analysis and somehow found it was a virus. But, after talking with him, he revoked his post and accepted that it was clean. That's when the tool starting taking off. Like DrizzyBot, my dox tool was being spread across forums, YouTube, blogs, wherever you could think of (do a Google search of "dox tool" and you'll see what I mean). Like my Skype bot, this was free as well and generated no income, so I decided to stop developing it.

Back to the Skype bot
After a couple of weeks of my partnership with a few different stress-testing services, they decided to turn on me for not doing my fair-share. They all started demanding payment, which when combined with the server costs, would not be worth it. So I had to remove the stress-testing command from the membership features and as expected, membership fell dramatically. I was back to square one losing money by running this bot. I tried adding different premium features, but none of them were as popular as the stress-testing feature, so I decided to shut down the bot once again.

Dox tool V2
Now with no projects on my hand, and with dox tool V1 pretty much broken, I decided to start on a new version of my dox tool. I was intending on making this high enough quality so I could sell it, but quickly realized that nobody would pay for a dox tool. So I released it for free. This took off just like V1. At the moment, my dox tool V2 has 55151 downloads from mainly HackForums. As you all know, when other people spread it to their forums, YouTube channels, etc, they don't post the original download link. The original download link allowed me to track how many downloads I got, thus the 55151 number. I have no way of knowing how many downloads it ACTUALLY has from other sources as well. All was well, I was enjoying the popularity of the tool, but again, I had zero income. At this point, I've had THREE successful projects, all that have ended up either losing, or making no money whatsoever.

DrizzyBot.com
I kept my website up to be a hub for all of my releases and whatnot. I eventually added an online dox tool which brought a lot of visitors to the site. I never put any ads up or asked for any donations, so this too brought me zero (negative, really) income. Before deciding to shut down the site, it was pulling in over 20,000 visitors a month.

20k visitors a month with zero income doesn't sound very good. But, it was a cool thing to see so I kept it up.
It wasn't until I applied for a software engineering internship that this site caused me issues. During their background check, they found out I was the owner of DrizzyBot and did not want my immoral values within the company, so I got denied. And that's where I'm at today. I don't want that happening again so I'm removing everything from DrizzyBot.com, but will continue to keep it up.

Sorry for the long read, just wanted to provide some closure for myself, and for anyone else who cares.
I don't think most people realize the implications that this site has on job applications. Coupled with the disability to edit/junk threads, members need to be more wary of what they post, as well as projects they are involved with.

Wow thats a lot of time and work into those applications free too.

Eh, I was aware that it'd come up in background checks and the schema that comes with this type of work. I thought the fact that it was a successful project would help me more than the "bad morals" of the site would, hence the reason I kept it up. I'm glad I got to experience all of it, but it's time to move on.

Edit: Oh by site you mean HackForums. Yeah I'm definitely going to be doing a cleanse of my posts from now on.
Any chance you're willing to share the command behind the dox creature of the site
Alot of dedication there man, sucks
Damn that sucks, Drizzy. You'll find something better for you. Everything happens for a reason.
I actually read the whole thread because it was actually interesting. That is quite a story you have and quite a project you built up. Just wanted to say well done, that is very impressive and it took a lot of dedication. I know its hard to say goodbye to what you've worked on, but look at it as motivation. Motivation for your next bigger and better project 🤝
Let me know what shitty company did that to you mate, i'll make them fuckers pay.

Shitty 'background' check - I'm sure you weren't out to keep yourself private from your online activity but for them to deny you due to a scraping tool? Fucking maltego is just as bad - shit anyone who has booted Kali is fucked.

Are you interested in passing over the project to someone who could run it with integrity and keep it secure? I'd personally be more than happy to take it over and continue work on it - or there are other users who would be happy to.

One way of 'legalizing it' in a sense would be to create an automated bot that would add users on skype or email them for confirmation to verify they own the data then let it find it for them to help them remove traces online.
Then the project shows your growth as a person + contributes something handy for users.
Another thing you can add is the ability to (as other sites have) scan your emails for websites you are registered to so you can unsubscribe/have your information removed from those service.
Shit, sucks that it cost you a job but they should have seen past that and seen a successful developer. Who the fuck gets anywhere without breaking the rules a little now and again.
I was owner of a Skype Bot too called xBOT, I dont know if I ever talk to you but I remember your bot.

I decided lot of time ago to stop with it because it was attracting a lot of people but just romanian skids.

Had this project running for a while because of partners, webresolver/skypegrab and a booter.
