So to begin, I was not scammed as such, just an attempt. Before you read on, it’s quite complicated. Make sure you read everything. I have provided an image of initial attempted scam of me. The rest of the evidence I mention is in the form of threads, which can be edited or deleted. I also have screenshots that I can post, if needed.
I wanted to exchange my Bitcoin ($50) to PayPal. I posted in a thread to offer a deal to an exchanger, to which he fairly declined. Minutes later I received a message on Skype from a person named Spotify.HF - but his Skype display name was the same as the exchanger I had messaged earlier.
We discussed the deal, to which he agreed and then he asked me to send the Bitcoin. Obviously, I was suspicious so I asked him to message me on HF to confirm the deal. He never replied, I quickly realised it was an attempted scam and I left it. Skip forward a week or two, and the Skype user (Spotify.hf) has changed his name to KingCupa69.

I find the HF account of the same name, and it’s some guy with 70 rep and non-upgraded. I checked this guys recent rep and he had one negative rep, mentioning that KingCupa69 has scammed him also with a link to a scam report (https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?ti...id57067902). KingCupa69 claimed not to have scammed him, the OP still maintains he was scammed, but as he was high (and I assume he was refunded), he took it no further. KingCupa is keen to cover up the this, as he wishes to trade/scam further.
When I posted in the scam report thread to support the OP, I was sent many PMs of abuse for taking the other guys side. That was until he realised that I knew he tried to scam me, then his tone changed. He went from offensive to begging me not to post anything, as he wouldn’t be able to eat otherwise. I said all I wanted was him to admit it and apologise, but he would not do this - as I believe he thought I would post this regardless and used it as proof. He explained it in many different ways, from me being delusional to him having an impersonator.
The initial attempt at scamming me was using a very well respected exchangers name. KingCupa69 is not exactly a highly trusted member to begin with, so why would someone wish to impersonate him?The name still remains as KingCupa69, so to me that almost completely rules out the possibility of someone impersonating KingCupa69 also. Not to mention the fact, he only trades very small numbers (almost always less than $10), to me impersonating him would be pointless.
Now I’ve been neg repped by a user named Click Noise Elay, as has anyone else who neg repped KingCupa69 regarding the initial scamming that was reported. He also sells Runescape related stuff, yet his account is full of negs for scamming. My belief is that KingCupa and are the same person. He made the KingCupa account as he needed a new account that he could use to sell legitimately. This part is mere speculation, but I believe it’s more likely true than not.
For me, it is too much of a coincidence that KingCupa69 happened to be impersonated on Skype, by someone who tried to scam me whilst also being accused of someone separate of being scammed. The issue is the ‘resolved’, KingCupa denies all reports of scamming, yet the OP of the scam report would disagree. He also claimed to have Skype, yet he posted in this thread that he used Skype. (https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?ti...ight=Skype)
I am sure he will respond to this, claiming I am lying or that he has an impersonator, as he’s said both these things to me. Both of these things are clearly not true, as I wouldn’t waste my time lying and writing this scam report otherwise and nobody would waste their time impersonating him, due to his reputation and the value that he trades.
Although I lost no money and the subsequent neg rep affects me very little, I am convinced the upmost caution should be taken when dealing with KingCupa69. Despite him showing he’s trusted with small deals, I believe he would scam on bigger deals and is a risk of charging back or exit scamming.
