Policy Question

Scamming On HF

So what does it take for a scammer to get banned from here? I hate to sound like a guy that's going to mommy and daddy for getting scammed but it is ridiculous. I opened a scam report on someone and numerous people have done the same on the person. I filed a dispute through the contract system as well but no administrative action has been taken. So what does it take for a scammer to get banned from here?
All deals on HF are done at your risk. Staff don't get involved. There are cases where members have been closed, but that's normally for fraud , or being a multi
I agree, its crazy how someone can just scam on this site all day & get away with it unless they're scamming for thousands
To be honest if you get scammed it's your own fault most the time for trusting members.

I agree but it doesn't help when there is no action taken against them to stop them from doing it again. I think it ruins the community.
There are at least 5 warnings saying that staff do not get involved in the dispute(s).

- Check UID, trust scan, contracts
- Use contracts, especially im CE
- Use middleman, especially in currency exchange
- Confirm the deal thru PM's if you're dealing off-site

That's it, you just lowered your chances of getting scammed by at least 70%

You're right but as I said, it's just enabling the scammers by not taking action against them. So I was just wondering what it would take.
Even if they ban the scammer they would open another account and do their thing from that account. scamming is unstoppable right now.
No matter what anyone tells you, it's always up to Staff's discretion on bans. The official stance: they do not, and will not get involved in deal disputes.

There is no real way of knowing that someone "is" a scammer. Just because they have a lot of deal disputes does not automatically means they're scamming. So in your opinion what kind of (on-site evidence) do we need to know that someone is a scammer? If they admitted scamming on-site, I believe they get closed for that.

True but people are a lot less likely to do deals with a fresh account than with someone that has an old account and has Ub3r

They will simply build their reputation right back up and scam again... with a fresh account, so potentially for more money than someone that would have done due dilligence and looked up previous scam reports.

You need to stop making these threads whining about policy and read the Help Docs. If staff not getting involved is so "ridiculous" to you, then log off and don't come back pretty simple
HF does not get involved in deal disputes. PERIOD!
Nowadays? I'm just here for the nostalgia.
HF does not get involved in deals. Just because a scam report is made does not mean that someone is a scammer. HF will not verify if you are scammed are not. It is up to you to use due diligence when doing deals. Take precautions such as using a middleman, Trust Scan, and Contract system.

If a member has multiple disputes then it is likely that multiple members did not follow the above advice.
