Scantime is when you press right click -> scan
Runtime is when you press right click -> open

Most crypters on HF are FUD scantime because it's easy. But it won't run on runtime scan, or maybe it will run for a couple of minutes before being detected.

This is not a useless thread. You asking this shows you are not some script kiddie and actually want to learn.

The basic difference between Runtime and Scan-time is when they are detectable.

A scantime crypter should make sure your file is undetectable when scanning the stub itself.
A runtime crypter should insure your file is undetectable while the virus is running and communicating between connections.
