Python

Want to mess with Python and AI

I have been in HS and University, but so far all that I have learned is just going deeper and deeper into Java. I see that more and more companies are adopting Python for AI development, and I would like to know if that should be something that I should look into. I want to get a degree in Computer Information Systems, and most of the people here get picked right out of college for a job, but I would like to see if I can get a head start by messing with Python and AI. If anyone has any idea for how I should do this, I would be interested in hearing it. Are there any similarities to Python and Java, should I just stick with Java, what do you guys think?

you can use keras to do machine learning in python, there's probably some java library for machine learning, expert system etc... too but python is the most used language for data science and ai so you should probably stick with that
Understand linear algebra , calculus and probability and statistic then you should feel more comfortable with machine learning stuff try to search on google rather than on this forums
there's excellent course about machine learning by Andrew Ng on youtube/coursera

There's a scikit-learn library that allows to implement all sorts of machine learning algorithms in a very simple way (in python), other than that learning numpy library will very beneficial for machine learning in python (it helps to replace lengthy "for" loops with simple functions that operate on arrays, much easier to read and much faster than "bare" python lists/dicts and "for" loops)
