I tend to agree because I personally do like a monotone look but at some point it's just boring. And if you don't like this change you are really not going to like what's coming. No sparkles though, I promise I'll never do that.
And I just disabled the online list for the site. So that's not a visual problem anymore.
They all do have the same font-size. Only differences might be shadows or bold effects.
Do I sense custom colors for crews or bytes for username colors?

i dont care about sales. Its human psychology, the smallest of factors have a massive impact on usability.

I get that it's different and I get that change takes time to adjust to, I'm not particularly worried about that. I also understand that this ultimately won't really detract from or add to my experience here. I just have opinions on the implementation of this idea, but it really just comes down to what your taste is I suppose.

In my opinion we've gotten a tad too busy. This screenshot doesn't include red or orange usernames and already I feel like there's a lot going on. I get with the removal of stars that we need something new to spruce up some of our pages, and I don't think adding color is a bad idea, but have we added too much color or is it too vibrant?
I feel like some of my concern with how busy things looks is based on the color choice its self. On their own, groups look beautiful, but when we have all of these groups posting in 1 place, I'd argue it can become a bit overbearing. I think this stems from our choice of brighter, more vibrant colors, compared to what we used to have. Looking back a year or two, our previous theme with the pink admin color, I think those colors would look nicer on display as they have a flatter and less intense look to them. They don't pop out at you or distract you from any other content. Like you said, the more monotone look has always been appealing, but since progress dictates adding a bit of color here and there, I'd maybe exploring middle ground and looking at some flatter colors(https://flatuicolors.com/palette/de) as they give you a nice range of colors, but nothing overbearing or distracting.

I like the color changes. Will miss the people online portion but won’t even remember it in a couple days just like the star ratings.
In my honest opinion it a bit too much. It's messy and I don't know where to look first.
