This is something I've considered, since the R00t group was released.  I like the fact that I have Ub3r and that it's no longer accessible.  It absolutely makes the group something more than it was before in that sense.

I feel like you've portrayed the R00t vs. Ub3r situation as negative to those with Ub3r.  I guess I'd have to go back and find exact posts/tweets (I recall there being multiple), and maybe I just misinterpreted it in the various places I've seen you discuss it, but your descriptions have given me the impression that Ub3r is a dead-end path for those with it.  In fact, the impression I had was that you were basically fed up with the overall mentality of the Ub3r user group, and this was a way of shutting that down.  And that R00t is for everyone else up and coming through the forums.

It's a moot point if your intention is to keep both user groups equal to each other in that sense.  But, if you may roll out R00t-specific features, I'd feel slighted and disregarded if I didn't at least have the option to purchase the group, just because I bought Ub3r some 8+ years ago. I don't believe I ever saw confirmation that your intention is to keep the two on par with each other though.

That'd be great to see it come back. It was the first promotion group that was not much more than something for vanity, but it was meaningful. It's a part of the legacy of Hack Forums, just like the Support Feather, Eclipse award, and Fox award. Although no longer relevant today, they were part of the history of the site. I'd enjoy some of the roots of the site staying intact, even if only for the purpose of nostalgia or appreciation of the past.

So if I was to give my honest opinion, don't take it the wrong way or anything, but I actually enjoyed having a group like R3KT that people had to grind to get too. I think you could offer another group like that with extremely high requirements. Or maybe an award for it? Since awards might not take as much resources. Just something that people could grind too to get site activity booming back when R3KT came out.

Like I said, just my opinion.

There will be less focus on that sort of thing here on HF. We went a long time where the groups were the focal point of the site. It's no longer the center of HF. We got the game under development which is part of an overall plan to change things on HF.

Fair enough. I didn't realize R3KT was taxing on HF's resources.
In that case, thanks for letting us rock R3KT for almost 2 years. Hopefully the site is seeing a noticeable boost from the change.

Correct. Consider yourself a OG member. / Legacy. It's a special thing, nobody will ever be able to get uber besides those who already have it or those who Omni grants it to.
