New members need to feel like they are welcome here and have a place. Ub3rs have lost almost nothing from their original features. They still get access to the bulk of new feature and only a select few have recently been added to r00t only to provide l33t members incentive to upgrade.

A portion of my HF income is based off upgrade groups. r00t needs to be attractive to the majority of l33t members. Ub3r already have it pretty good here and have for a very long time. I could easily offer ub3r the ability to upgrade into r00t but I think that would make it less special for non-ub3r to obtain the group.

I make these decisions for business reasons and as forward thinking for the community. I might joke around about punishing Ub3r but I'm not being serious. I'm trolling. r00t is a new group for new members with a new attitude.

I was upgraded by yourself and I'm glad I asked the question and gave you my epic and l33t to be upgraded at your discretion and kindness, and for sure it's worth the jump from l33t to r00t, I'm glad I was bold enough to pick up on your tell and ask you. As the features that r00t get are WELL WORTH the jump from l33t to r00t. So thanks for giving me that opportunity; Broke ex-squaddie and all, I probably wouldn't have upgraded. Family kids and cars and all the other shit takes priority. But I love the features I now have access to, r00t is great tbh.

I joined back on December 1st, 2013.. almost 6 years ago! Seeing all these changes coming through, new generation and new attitude like Omni said earlier, makes me feel like grandpa. Loving my ub3r, probably I will stay with it for a long time, just to be part of the legacy of HF.

I'm curious though, why would you prevent someone purchasing something they don't need? Nobody ever needed a rainbow pony award, but it was once a symbolic token for members to declare their virginity and everyone was invited to support HF by buying it.

Doesn't the exclusivity of R00t, by nature of scope, incentivise member participation in the community? If so, where does that leave Ub3r members moving forward? To my understanding, the exclusivity of Ub3r was once valued for the same reasons.

Because as newer people come in, you can incentivize those who are new, with a new exclusive group. Ub3rs are exclusive. No one can become an Ub3r. It's my understanding that this may happen in the future, and become a trend to symbolize the vanity of having such groups. The way forward for Ub3r is v3ndor. It's not exclusive to people who ONLY want to use the marketplace, despite people reasonably assuming that, the new perks and abilities are available to v3ndor. Weird, I suppose we just wait for a group that is equal to V3ndor in abilities that aren't related to the marketplace. I mean right now, theoretically, even if Omni allowed us to upgrade to r00t, it would only be for marketplace features. So, if you're active in the marketplace, you would be able to upgrade to v3ndor, and if you're not, then you're just complaining about getting features that would be otherwise irrelevant to you. At least, that's my understanding of everything.

TLDR:
ub3r = r00t - marketplace features
ub3r + marketplace features = v3ndor
ub3r - marketplace feature wanting r00t = useless complaining about features that they're not using

Are there plans on giving members a group to upgrade to that is not v3ndor, but has the same type of privileges as someone who doesn't sell merchandise? I don't sell services or products, however, I do give a lot of people business to HF members. A marketplace cannot thrive without people like myself, because if there's no one spending money, there is no one making money.
