Wow... wish I would have saved my money with buying Titans and purchased groups now. Not only could I buy 2 for about half the price I bought Titans, but I could own 2!... or more... Omni never let us do that before. And after watching Divined come in and waste his money I can see why. I guess this was kinda the plan to make groups worth a lot less. Now he has the new thing, Crews. I wonder if he plans on scrapping groups one day... if I were him I know I'd be trying to find the best way to do it. Whether it is to drop the price so low the owners sell them back to you, or you just simply do like before and ask for money and close any that refuse. Different circumstances, but an option nonetheless I suppose lol.

I'm not sure that I'm interested in buying just a single group though. If I were to come back, I'd come back Divined style and scoop up the majority of them. It's the only chance anyone has at making groups have any kind of decent reputation. You'd need to invest all of the money you could to buy up all of the groups, find and appoint people to lead all but 1 or 2 groups for you to manage. Then you'd be able to work collaboratively to bring the image of groups back. I tried a long time ago when they were worth saving, but too many owners with too large of egos or lack of motivation to do even just an hour of work.

You paint a bleak picture here where the only savior to all groups on HF is your divine intervention. Not everything here is bad.
Groups and crews have been able to coexist without much tension since they were introduced.
Things are going fine under the group that I and the fellow leaders actively manage.
If none of the current groups/crews satisfy your standards, I'd encourage you to buy a group. I'm all for you getting back into the group scene.

Cheap considering that groups usually go for 5k or more. They're used to make money, it's an investment.

Not usually. Used to.

These days groups go for right around $2k. And they still don't even sell at that.
There's also a lot of fake buyers, who submit bids but then chicken out.

You're wrong. I actually agree with him, he's pretty accurate. Groups feel like they're getting deprecated.

Look, from my point of view, crews pose the greatest threat to the existence of groups. It's the sheer uncertainty about what new features crews will have in the future and how they will change the market's value of groups and crews. They serve a similar purpose; an organization of members of the forum under one leader. The more crews/groups there are, the less people want to own one. But what's confusing me is that people used to always say that if groups every fell below $2k that Omni had promised to buy them back, is that not the case anymore or something?

Wow, still no buyers at this price. Have you tried posting this in the marketplace? There hasn’t been many groups doing enough out reach to make people have a reason to visit this section or even be aware of groups. You might have more luck in a section that gets a lot more views.
