I didn't enable 2FA .. please help

Why don't you people download the application on both your phone and computer? I have it on all of my devices in case I replace, lose or whatever happens to my phone and vise-versa.

Because that would require them to be smart.

Correct: I have Authy on two phones and also on my PC.
Took me only minutes to add all three years ago.

Ya snooze ya lose.

And once installed multiple devices it keeps them synced so you don't have to add an account to each device separately.

Never actually knew Authy had a Chrome Extension. Can access my 2FA on my PC now :)

If we look at all the members/Threads that are having problems logging in after this
forum reset.

We will see most are using Google Auth
This is just one of the first problems.

1) Google Auth sucks dick and if you don't write down your key and save it?
Your shit out of luck.

2) Authy will synced among multiple devises. Cell phone/PC/Mac.
one would never have this problem if only they had researched.

3) This is not the first time Hack Forums has done a site wide login reset
and I'm sure it won't be the last time we see this.

4) There is no account recovery option available for laziness/stupidity if one can't take care of your own account.

5) I'll even make it more easy for everyone for future login resets with the link to Authy.

Not sure how it is for other countries (I'm in Canada), I know this may seem a little extreme, but for those of you using Authy, an extra precaution to take is to contact your mobile provider and ask them to lock your number so that no one can port it over to another carrier and essentially steal your number, without triggering a manual review in which the carrier will first contact you to confirm.

In Canada, you can literally steal anyones phone number in a matter of seconds if you have a person's name/account number and phone number as the process is fully automated, because the CRTC (some branch of the Federal government) want Canadian's to have the freedom to move their number to any carrier they wish lol.

Literally buy a prepaid sim, go to the activation portal, put in the account details of the number you want, and bam.

A lot of ppl lost their crypto because ppl jacked their numbers, got their 2FA's, gained access to emails and you know the rest. If someone ever gets your 2FA, you lose everything, lol.

Same, just learned something new.

I'm in Canada as well and I really don't think it's that easy. And if it were, it's probably as easy to pull it back.

It's more common than you think, it's just not the sort of thing that will make news headlines.

Obviously no one is going to sim swap some random person's phone number....people get targeted, it happens.

It's easy and all you need is basic information which can easily be social engineered. The process is fully automated. If you ever ported your number from one carrier to another, or replaced your sim card, you'd know.

Nonetheless, if you deal with large amounts of crypto currencies, it's a good safety precaution to take to protect your 2FA.

Is it really safe to have Authy on your computer? I cannot find any way to make it so you need some additional step to access it, if you open it on your computer bam you're into all the accounts. So if someone RATs you they can easily login to any account by opening authy on your computer, unless there's something I'm missing (probably is).

edit - Okay I just found the master password setting, I was confusing it with the backup password you enter.
I don't really do rep for rep so if you're using your daily rep on me save it for someone else ❤️

Long time fascination with computers, politics, some gaming, but less so nowadays.

wtf would he be ratted...

of course it better to keep it your phone but can still be sim swapped so that not a fool proof way. im still trying to understand wtf 2fa is not a free feature here. looks like admin telling non upgraded users we dont care if you get hacked.

I was just saying in theory it could be unsafe, only if you dont set a master password which for some reason authy does not require you to.

oh gotcha. ya its not fool proof but i would say the best thing our there at moment. as this site could do something better then 2FA as sadly most users here wont even use authy as either worried about losing access to sites they used authy for as they clearly state we will not help you regain access or you use it and get a new phone and forget to disable it.

I've forwarded my numbers many times(both home and mobile) and if I recall correctly, you need your account information on the from account (yes simple data such as name, dob, etc, but often includes a unique account number as well as a pin). I'm not certain someone with my name and basic details can steal my number.
