Google chrome started blocking my site this morning

Google chrome blocked my site this morning, saying it has detected phishing. The site works in other browsers (although safari seems to be on the fence now).

I can't see that the site has been hacked, and the best info I could get from chrome was that it said it was 'blocking ads' (I couldn't ascertain what it thought the ads were). I logged in to my webmaster console, and it says there is an issue with 'deceptive pages' and it gave me a sample url, so I deleted that from the server because it seemed to be just an old legacy file/folder.

There's nothing wrong with the site that I can see, the only thing that has changed recently is that my business partners asked that I put a load of company logos on there (with links), which I'm wondering whether chrome thought are spam.

The site itself is pretty tame, it does have a log in section, but that's just a username and password, there's no credit card, phone number, etc type of stuff, none of the information is sensitive. The frontpage is wordpress.

I'm not trying to game the system, I'm just interested to know the best way to tackle this, because google are such a behemoth that I can't see myself getting an answer out of them, and I just want to get the site up and running again as soon as possible. I might just delete all the frontpage/word-pressy stuff and throw up a bootstrap template instead.

As I understand it you can ask google to review your site again, but I want to make sure it's going to pass muster first. Does anyone have any experience of this/suggestions?

Thanks.
Never had this happen. I recommend that you attempt to remove all ads or other weird code, and resubmit it.

I know, I've never had it happen before either, it's creeping me out tbh. Thing is, there aren't any ads on the site at all, and I can't find any weird code either. I think google might have decided to flag it as 'social engineering' for some reason, which is a heart-break/ball-ache because I don't think there's anything I can do about that except to ask them to please re-consider. The site ain't asking for anything that it shouldn't.

The only other thing I can think of is that google's raging hard-on for https means that there's some fecking 's' missing from some link or file, somewhere, that I've got no chance of finding within the next decade.
Scan your page on rescan.pro for possible malware. It's also possible that your website has hidden malware that distributes content to specific countries.

1. Are you using a CMS?
2. If so, are you using any nulled/cracked addons?

Yeah, I think I am using a CMS as a wordpress plugin. Tbh I don't look at the site much, it's an application I made ages ago, I only fiddle with it when there's a problem.

I have fixed this now, but I'm not actually sure how. I should probably should invest in a malware scanner for it or something, not as if they're particularly expensive.

1. Make a full backup of your database and files
2. Delete wp-admin and wp-includes folder
3. Open all files in Notepad++ and search for terms like base64, decode, edoced

If you find suspicious parts, remove them manually. Once you removed all suspicious code, add the WordPress core files to your wp-content and other files and re-upload. Also check database for new suspicious tables. I've had experience with same stuff, with WordPres specifically.
