"Cartoon" has so many, many different meanings from person to person, so just to be safe I'll say Avatar: The Last Airbender. It's not technically an "anime" by conventional standards, just an American cartoon series from Nickelodeon. And it's absolutely terrific. 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Mine's gotta be between Courage the Cowardly Dog, Chowder, and Regular Show. Amazing World of Gumball gets an honorable mention though.

I second this completely. One of the best stories, cartoon or not.
Also gotta throw in Misadventures of Flapjack, Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Cow and Chicken, CatDog, and Ren & Stimpy. 🤝

See? This is why I'm such a fan of Captain Spaulding, he thinks of the things people normally don't! I loved Nickelodeon shows growing up. Hell, even now as an adult I'll happily watch them without one single f@#k given.

Old school Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon were my s**t. Cartoons nowadays can't compete simply because they can't be as edgy.
A good example, Rocko's Modern Life. He worked as a sex phone operator.
