# uses an unsupported protocol?

I have an issue where whenever I press on a link on HF it'll redirect me to a # link and show me this https://i.gyazo.com/31eecc90733f4ce3032ab82162e4191c.png
Why does this happen anyone know?
It's Omni's new URL shortener which currently doesn't have an SSL certificate. That is the reason why your browser is blocking it. I don't use chrome but if I am remembering correctly, on that screen click details and there should be an option to continue to the website

He should add LetsEncrypt to prevent this

Okay thank you. Worked by changing https to http.
Honestly, I don't really like this change.
This URL shortener hide the real URL behind the link and it's quiet annoying, I'm just never sure what I'm really opening.

It would be best if there is option to turn it off.
officially never clicking anything on HF again

You can unshorten the links without visiting them yourself if you are worried about this change.

If you're running Chrome, this is a convenient extension for that: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detai...bcccohlpoh

Add /preview after any # URL to see where it will go to. Example: https://#/1un/preview

I don't use Chrome sadly.

Alright well thanks, but still it would be better to disable it entirely.

Yea but thats not really a solution...

On the topic of the URL shortner, why did it even get added? I may have missed a thread but I can't understand why it would need to be a thing.

but why would we want to go an extra step to see what the actually url is? Just remove the link shortner....
