had a curious question as seen admin request before on his twitter handle to get users to post about hf on twitter with a HF hashtag. now at first i thought must be impossible. but then when you see how few tweets you need to get trending it seems easy. as right now u got a top trending tweet at 3500 tags/tweets. Now this site has thousands of members so whats stopping hf users from posting about or advertising hf on their twitter account? get this site trending which id assume would gain it alot more users in the future and some fresh faces.

Do users not wanna associate HF with their twitter account or what?

as there is more then enough users here to get it done.

Exactly, i don't think the number of tweets is the only thing that makes it trending otherwise it would've been botted. Probably a lot of factors like likes etc

I'd assume it to be a combination of searches, tweets, retweets, likes and views. The algorithm would probably add more points to the 'trending meter' if people with a lot of followers/status were to tweet out the hashtag.

Difficult indeed because they don't publicly disclose their algorithm:

But like you said, there's no definitive answer. Maybe if someone here would be inclined to go work for Twitter and leak the algorithm out to us, that would help a lot.

that was my point. but user above showed they have an algo and seems no hf members meet the qual.

It’s simply based on impressions, interactions, tweet reach & tweet count all put into a formula to calculate an average which is then compared against other hashtags which then produces the list.

This seems the most logical explanation of it for me when I think about it. I may be wrong but who knows.

Ya must be something like that as you will see things trending with 15k and then others only trending with 3k
