Complete Matched Betting Guide

WHAT IS MATCHED BETTING?

Matched Betting is a mathematical technique used to guarantee a profit from free bet promotions given by betting organisations. The UK is most known for this but people also do it in Australia & New Zealand. Other countries I am unsure at this moment but am working on finding solid information for you all!

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The process may be confusing at first but is extremely simple once you understand it.
The 2 main things you need to know from the get go is

The “Back” Bet: Betting for an outcome to become true so for example “I bet England will win”.

The “Lay” Bet: Betting against a certain outcome to come true for example “I bet England will NOT win”

HOW MUCH PROFIT CAN I MAKE?

As a general rule of thumb if you are doing this “safely” and not trying to get the best possible return you will usually come out with about 75% of the free bet amount offered as profit. So if the free bet offered is $100 you will generally come out with $75 profit or more. This money is also tax-free because it is included in the gambling industry laws in my country (Australia)

WHATS THE RISK?

The only risk that is involved is when human error is at play. So I will always say DOUBLE & TRIPLE CHECK EVERYTHING. May take more time but this could save you hundreds if not thousands of $$$ down the line. There are some bets that could involve small risk for extremely high reward but we generally stick to completely risk free bets.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE TO YOU FIRST PROFIT!

Step One: Sign up to Betfair Betting Exchange. “Betfair.com” I suggest turning off Adblock as they may offer promotions to new members before or after signing up. Enter all the information you need. Deposit account etc. Just make sure you profile is completed before moving to the next step!

Step Two: Sign up to a betting company. Example for UK (Coral.co.uk) Example for Australia (Sportsbet.com.au) Again make sure Adblock is turned off as there may be offers waiting for you! Browse around for you local sports betting websites and see what offers you can find for “sign up promotions”. When you find a sign up promotion you can click on it or do what you need to when signing up and you will be prompted to make a deposit. Make sure you read the T&Cs to see the amount you need to deposit to receive the free bet as this changes from offer to offer.

Step Three: Make sure using decimal odds not fractional odds this makes it easier to compare odds with Betfair

Step Four: This is where you want to find a game to bet on. I recommend NRL as a good starting point as there is no “draw” option. The “Back” Bet is always placed at the bookkeeper so “Sportsbet” and the “Lay” Bet is always placed at Betfair!

Betting Example

Sportsbet NRL: Panthers 2.00 - Knights 1.60

Betfair NRL: Panthers 2.08 - Knights 1.56

You want the Knights to win at Sportsbet so you would place your qualifying amount on them so for example $50

You now want the Knights to lose at Betfair so you would use a calculator to single out any loss and the only amount you lose is 5% Betfair commission

You have now put in a total of $50 at Sportsbet and around about $50 at Betfair so you are now $100 in but you will lose 5% to commission. So you are left with $95 no matter what happens in the game.

Now depending on the promotion offer you may have gotten a free $50 bonus bet which means you now have $145 right? But you cant withdraw that extra $50 until you bet it. So you repeat the previous exact process as you will lose about 5% but you will now have $140 you can withdraw. $40 profit for doing almost nothing.. Pretty decent right?

I will supply a free calculator from a website and continue to help as best I can with enquiries! I am only human and really terrible at writing things so please give me a break! I will try and make a much better guide soon. This was a bit rushed so any questions you have just please ask!

Calculator Image Example: Spoiler (Click to View)

This image shows $50 back bet on Panthers at 2.00 odds. Lay odds (Panthers to lose) at 2.08 with 5% commission. And the bet you should use on the lay panthers at Betfair which would be $49.26 so no matter what happens in the game you will lose $3.21

Ill keep reading over this with everyone’s comments and see if I can make it easier to understand for people. It is quite confusing to begin with but once you make your first bet it becomes very simple! If you would like help please feel free to comment you problem here!

Offer Example: Spoiler (Click to View)

This shows that if you bet $50 on a horse to win at that specific race and it comes 2nd or 3rd you get a $50 bonus bet. So you bet $50 on this offer on the favourite horse. You then use the calculator and get the bet for Betfair and place your lay bet on that horse. And if the horse comes 2nd or 3rd you get a free $50 to bet and withdraw later on!
I ve done this but with odds greater than 2.0
For example search for matches like this: Team A to Win 2.2 vs Team B 3.25 (Bet365 for example)
Team A Win 2.15 vs Team B Draw or Win 2.10 (Betfair)
I bet 100 euros in Bet365 for Team A to win and if I win I get 220 euros
I bet 100 euros in Betfair for Team B to Draw or Win and if I win I get 210 euros
In total ive spent 200 euros and I ll profit 20 or 10 euros.
These matches are hard to find but u should watch in lower leagues or unkown leagues. For example i ve found so many matches in serbian league with these odds.

You can do the same with goals and corners. Bet over 2.5 with odds >2 and in the other sites bet under 2.5 with odds >2 (U can do this with one site too if u bet live but it is risky because the odds for under 2.5 may never be >2)
With corners I used this strategy and u only need one site. I used to bet for example over 9.5 corners with odds greater than 2. For example 100 euros Over 9.5 corners at 2.05. When the matches start and if they get 2 or 3 corners in the first 15 mins u will get options like over 11.5 corners with odd 1.8 and under 11.5 with odd under 2.1 for example. Now u will bet 100 euros for Under 11 corners at 2.1. In total u ve spent 200 euros and u will profit 5 or 10 euros or 15 if the match ends with 10 corners. Bigger the bet bigger the profit btw.
My max bet was 2000 euros 2 bets with a 260 profit. Ive got like 30,40,100,260 euros a day until they banned my account. (Im albanian user btw no idea if u can get banned in uk or australia)

Thanks for the detailed response. But yes this can be applied to almost anything. Even works with esports as well. I generally don’t look to hard into those. I generally stick to more mainstream and blend in with the crowd. You can get banned if you are blatantly doing it but you place an occasionally punt with some profits to scew your margins.

I placed a bet on a Chinese tennis game. Had massive gains cause the market on Betfair was so different. Can’t remember specfics but i almost tripled my money and got banned the next day. I’m only familiar with Australian markets though. As I am Australian. But you make a very valid example. Can be used anywhere if you look hard enough.
Thank you for providing such a good guide... Bookmarked.

No problem at all!

I will hopefully make a better more detailed guide with pictures and make it a downloadable PDF! Just need to find the time to do it
Posting to understanding this later. (Read it, just dont understand it xD)

Yeah it's hard to get your head around at first.

Basic explanation is:
- Bet at bookie
- Bet at Betfair on same team to lose
- Recieve bonus bet.
- Use bonus bet at bookie
- Bet on Betfair on same team to lose

You generally have then made 70%+ of the bonus bet in profit.
Yeah, i get the idea.
Just not getting the strategy un my head as “working”.

So i need to see the odds/pages/betts xD

Let’s just do an example bet. For an NRL game.
Bookies is SportsBet

Bonus: If Storm wins by +4 get up to $50 in bonus bets

SportsBet: Storm Odds - 1.61 v Roosters Odds - 2.07
Betfair: Storm Odds to lose - 1.69 (odds at Betfair as always slightly higher on the lay odds)

Back Storm at Sports bet at odds 1.61 with $50
Betfair odds for Storm to lose are 1.69

Go to the calculator I linked in the guide and put in the details as follows.
- Back Bet $50
- Back Odds 1.61 (Storm at SportsBet)
- Lay Odds 1.69 (Storm at Betfair)
- Commission 5% (as that’s Betfair base)

The results will say “At odds of 1.69 you could lay $49.09. Liability will be $33.87

So you will Lay at Betfair and bet $49.09.

Now you will wait for the game to be played out. And no matter what happens you will lose $3.37.

Now this offer isn’t completely risk free but it’s like a 95% chance of happening so if Storm won by 4 points you will have an extra $50 in your SportsBet account.

Repeat the process with the $50 bonus bet and you will end up having $35+ in profit because the bonus bet isn’t your money so instead of losing a tiny amount you will gain 75% of the bonus bet.

This is just an example. There are plenty of risk free offers I just used this because it was on the top of my head.

If this helps let me know! If it doesn’t I’ll have to try and make a better guide 🤣
This its awesome but i need to read it very careful and more times to understand it
SOUNDS INTERESTING I WILL READ IT WITH MORE DETAILS TO APPLY IT AVER AS I AM GOING
what happens if they tie? do you lose your own personal money
Ok something i don't understand...

1. Do you have to get 2 Bonuses on bookie and on betfair each??
2. How do you bet the bonus on the same game if you receive the bonus after the game is finished?

I am confused. A well explained guide with pictures would really help.
I will be waiting for it, no rush at all. :)

Thanks

1. No you get 1 bonus on the bookie & thats it.
2. You get the bonus from the first game and then use that bonus on another game to profit.

so you loose a bit on the first game and then use the bonus to regain losses and get some profit?

what about future bonuses ? are there any from the same site or you have to just do the bonus on one site and move on to the next?

thanks for clearing that up :)
