Hello guys,
An interesting question for you.
For example.
From your experience and what you think?
How many m² approximately is from m³ wooden planks?
thickness is 5cm.

How long and wide are the planks?
If they're 1x1m;
100/5 = 20 planks
if they are 1mx0.1m;
100/0.5 = 200 planks

i think it doesnt matter how long and wide are the planks, because m3 is m3 and its not important if the planks are 20cm wide or 10cm wide.
or i am wrong?
You just have to extract the thickness then you would have the m²
So
m² = Length Width
m³ = Length Width * Height (thickness)
so if it is 3m³ you're gonna do
3/5= 1.5m²

Depends if you're asking how many planks or not.
m3 is a measurement of volume.
m2 is a measurement of area.

EDIT: Sorry.. I think I misunderstood the question :) user above me explained it perfectly.

yep, also, if you want to know m³ you do m² * thickness = m³
