@everyone@ tag

This would be an addition to the current mention system.

@everyone@ should alert everyone who posted in the thread and can only be used during the first 3 pages of the thread

And make this a Vendor only feature.

I believe this would be a useful feature for sellers to use when they want to announce a discounts, thread updates, thread announcements, letting people know that reviews are posted or vouch copies are sent out etc.

Attach cost of 25 bytes to avoid vendors abusing the feature or a limit for 5 @everyone@ mentions per thread, something like that.

And limit it to be allowed during the first 3 pages of the thread only since those are usually when vouch copies are being sent out and people show interest and are waiting for reviews etc..
So then I'm going to permanently regret having posted in your sales thread because now you're consistently spamming me with notifications.

If this becomes a feature at least allow people to disable it. Seems like advertising and very close to PM blasting, which is a form of advertising not on HF for a good reason.

No need to exaggerate as i mentioned:

"Maybe attach cost of 25 bytes to avoid vendors abusing the feature or a limit for 5 @everyone@ mentions per thread, something like that."

But yes disabling would also be a useful addition if something like this ever gets implemented.

Also it doesn't use the PM system nor the convo system it uses the mention system which works together with the alert system.

I'm aware of this but both notifications and PMs are similar in the way they work. This just seems like a cheap form of advertising. If you have a large thread with 100 users then you're sending notifications to 100 users. This has massive potential for abuse. Would it only be available to the OP of the thread? Just seems like a cheap form of a very bad form of advertising. If you want to inform people of your product you can get a sticky/banner.
Absolutely horrible idea. It’d be better to be able to mass convo or mass Pm based on selecting a contract template

Yes it is indeed a cheap form of advertisement just like the new bump system is, also a cheap form of advertisement.

But indeed you are right in regards of threads with 100 users in it, edited my idea to be allowed during the first 3 pages only since those are usually when vouch copies are being sent out and people show interest and are waiting for reviews etc..

I suggest you start a group convo and invite customers.

Fair enough, just thought it would be useful for sellers to let potentional customers know that reviews been posted and such altho a convo could indeed also be created with those people.

I guess the idea wasn't that great afterall.
As interesting as this feature will be, i fear for spamming.
Personally I like how all of my PMs are hand-written specifically to me, and want to keep it that way. If @mentions and things get added then it will start to look like a twitter feed.

So if anything like this is added please keep it out of my PMs. Maybe add it to the thread feed instead.
don't fall for impersonators
