Anyone else having issues with browsers taking a lot more cpu than normal? I know I seem to have more issues with browsers that use chromium -- which seems to be more and more browsers every day. Firefox was doing great and here lately; it's been spiking randomly.
What are some minimal browsers?
Brave, Vivaldi, etc?

Don't quote me on this but I think Edge is pretty light
Opera GX, you can set your own CPU, RAM and network usage.

Yeah i always found Chrome very high on the CPU usage . I used to use Firefox as well
I have switched over to Brave i love it the CPU is always sitting low
Take it you have tried Brave ?

On my dedicated machines.. yes, never on personal. Starting to think I should.
I've never had such an issue with firefox personally, but I'll admit that there are other browsers out there that have a lower CPU usage. Like others said in this thread, Brave is a great option!
I would give Brave a try, or the new Edge. But I'm still using Chrome with adblocker, and high cpu usage isn't really hit me. Can't remember when was it last time..

I've done some more testing. I think it's my CPU that needs to be changed out.
i5 - 6500
Hasn't really be an issue, but other things that aren't really cpu intensive and taking a lot of cpu percentage as well.

I used to have this issue but then I turned hardware acceleration off and it fixed all of my issues.

Maybe your psu is the problem causing the spikes 🤔

That's an interesting concept. My disk is spiking for no reason also.
My RAM is consistent though. Interesting all the way around.

Edge isnt light. If anything edge can be as bad as chrome maybe even worse.

It could be many things, when was the last time you reapplied your thermal paste?
I had a scenario once where my graphics card updates were causing high cpu spikes, a simple reboot fixed it. Since then I always reboot after updates.

Thermal Paste application: 6 months ago.
I shut down every night.

iirc edge uses chromium as well? Safari is moving that way too.
I have been using brave and I think it takes up less CPU. Or at least seems that way.
Lovely.
