i currently have a intel and always have! but i am upgrading from a 6700k.
i have heard some great things about ryzen and intel but i am unsure of which to choose at this point i have always been a intel person but lately i have read some articles and have people tell me that ryzen as of right now is the better CPU overral and that intel is better if its purely for gaming
here is what i plan on doing on the PC, i am a big gamer so most of the time ill be doing that iused to be a full time streamer and i plan on trying to do that again. while playing i am usually watching stuff on chrome or music, and i may be streaming at times.
currently i am looking at the 3800x/3900x or the 9900k by intel but have no idea which i should get ? if any of you have recommendations i would be happy to hear it please!
How much you want to spend on it?
What is your current motherboard, or are you looking to upgrade the motherboard as well? If yes, then how much you want to spend on the motherboard?
This will determine what is the best choice for your budget, assuming your goal is the best price-performance ratio.

yes i am upgrading the mother board as well as the socket is out of date. tbh i am looking to spend maybe 500-800$ ideally i would prefer not to spend any more then that
I currently have the i9 9900k. I am CONTINUOUSLY having overheating problems. You NEED.. I repeat, NEED... good cooling. I have a 360mm radiator and it still runs a constant 50+ degrees in game lobbies. Make sure you have a good case, good fans or a nice water loop. I run at 5.18ghz.
Ryzen is cheaper and isn't much behind Intel in performance.
You will need to check compatibility with your motherboard though.

You either didn't read the OP's post or have no idea what you are recommending. Zero chance a Ryzen CPU fits into an Intel motherboard with an LGA socket instead of PGA socket. One has pins in the socket the other has holes in the socket for pins.

Personally I'd go Ryzen. Very solid performance cheaper/better motherboard options now.

That's why he said he'll need to check compatibility.
Obviously it's a different socket type so he'll need to buy a compatible one that is also compatible with his ram etc

Currently running a 3900x. Tbh overkill for streaming and gaming, and I bought a water cooler because I was having a high temp problem. 3800x is not worth it. I feel youd be fine with a 3700x. Then again, Ryzen is RUMORED to be releasing a refreshed line up of the 3600x, 3700x and 3900x. I would suggest doing further research and seeing how long your able to wait.
edit; if you have money to kill, want the highest frames possible. Intel 10th series is the way to go.

If you have money I would def go with intel but AMD isnt a bad pick also. Have the Ryzen 9 and no complaints from me.
INTEL > GAMING
AMD > MULTI TASKING/GAMING/EDITING/ETC

Lmao intel gaming right yes because that 1-3% increase in fps is very dramatic and 0% increase in 1440p and above.
AMD beats intel in everything hands down.
Also the new zen 2 refreshed will come out with even higher base/boost clocks.

If you gunna get a Ryzen 9, I'd go for the 3900 personally over the 3900x, mostly down to price. In the UK, at current market it's like £430 for a 3900x, the 3900 isn't sold separately like the 3900x so you'd have to buy it in a bundle like this (motherboard & CPU bundle). On this link, you can get a Ryzen 3900, B450 motherboard for £440, and also add some RAM/PSU (discounted when buying with the bundle, 32GB DDR4, 500w PSU) for £630 total, which is a steal considering all you need is a case, SSD/HHD and a GPU.

my past intel processor got slow after few months of heavy gaming. also did some research at that time and found things slow down with intel.
i am not sure its only me or it with all though.
