I was browsing around on Quora, the popular question and answer site, and came across a really interesting question:
Your cruel parents kicked you out of the house when you were 15. Now, as an established adult, they lost their jobs and house and would like to move in with you. Would you let them move in?
I don't know if I would let them move in. If they kicked me out at 15 for no reason, that might be enough for me to resent them. I guess it all depends on if we'd made amends and built a better relationship over the years.
At the end of the day those are your parents without them you wouldn’t be here.

You ask the questions, whats your own answer?

My answer is included on my thread. I'm more interested in what others have to say, since I've already had time to think about this question.
My heart wouldn't let me just see them struggle like that. Now if they ask for money for something other than essentials or just like a favor loan, i would say NO.

Totally understand, it's a chance to be the bigger person and show them good will. Although, yeah, directly asking for money is a bit much.

Its a tough spot to be put in. I would def nee an apology too.
I want to say I would let them but I’m not really sure, it would really depend on why I was kicked out and their situation. At the end of the day though I can’t imagine watching my parents struggle and not doing anything about it, so more than likely I would let them.

You should learn to accept whatever your parents do for you. They have more experience and they always know what is best for their child.
I would let them for a day, and kick them out then, too.

Yeah, that's what I think and what other people who I've asked think. It depends on what happened when they kicked you out and the exact type of person they are. On Quora, surprisingly, there were a lot of older people responding who said they wouldn't help their parents at all.

Nah I think I wouldn’t even bother. I keep the hard feelings when someone doesn’t treat me right, no exclusions.

I completely agree with you Dorrance
I would never abandon my parents, regardless of what they did. I'd let them in until they get back on their feet.
