Major group of the popularity is male, a highly-stressed or pressured environment when it comes to etiquettes, rules, work, sex and more.
Then the expensive things. Like apartments are only for the 'rich' as most (coffin rooms) are expensive to even start with.
I think it make a lot of sense why they sexualise their commercials and 'anime' just for the thrill of it, without the baby booming.
