A simple 6 step guide to insanity for programmers

1: Make a simple program
2: Add Networking capabilities
3: Be unable to connect
4: Stare at code blankly for 6 hours
5: Remove two useless lines of code that broke everything
6: Commence mental breakdown

Sometimes I hate my job...
Probably one of the good reasons I quit coding.
The code makes sense but doesn't work or it became such a hassle implementing "best practices" that ended up screwing productivity by making development 10x longer.

Oh and freelancing sites and the indians who outbid you for 1/10th the price you offered.

and what was the 2 lines? 😗
Haha Im sure a lot of people can relate.
Pretty much the same thing happened to me last month.
I did a large refactoring to my js without any testing because of my own ego. Anyways some functionality wasn't working properly so for hours I would go through the code over and over again, re-reading every letter that I wrote and still couldn't find the culprit. (Literal insanity) I was fuming upon finding out it was a misspelled class name in the html lol.
Still hurts to this day 😭
You post just made my day lol, thats my life everyday

You're going to facepalm as hard as I did.

I'll simplify it minus all the BS in the middle:
if (CanConnect(Ip, Port)){
Unlock();
}else Lock();
Lock()

So basically, I was checking if I could connect, if not lock it and then lock it......
I facepalmed so fucking hard......

It's not as bad as the days of starting out in Unity
Once spent 3 days, 3500 lines of code and a lot of printed pages, to find out I was missing a "[SyncVar]".... 3 days for that... I literally was like "fuck this, I'm taking a month off" LOL
I find the quickest route to insanity is colleagues/customers who know less than nothing but still feel imperious enough to aggressively insist that such-and-such is 'easy' and will be 'only a couple of lines of code'. Like, "I spouted my vague nebulous bs idea to you yesterday about how the application should predict next week's winning lottery numbers. It's easy, all you have to do is get 6 numbers right, why haven't you done it yet?"

cunst (const).
Bahaha so true, always gotta redo my programs

Or the whole "Use an xx statement/function, it's so much better than a xx statement/function", the amount of times I hear this from "Professional Coders" lmao

And there's me like, "Yes, this function would totally work with that, which is why I did it like this, because the other way works", like c'mon, you really think I haven't tried that??

It drives me batty because it's always right under your nose and you just keep scrolling past it.

I had one weird bug today, everytime I hit enter, instead of a new line, it made a function for a click event on a label (in a winform), and everytime I tried to make a new line, took me straight to that function

By far the weirdest experience I've had yet. Never had an issue before .net framework 4.71, now shits just... Not normal... And it just gets weirder everyday
This seems like what happens to me everyday lol!
