Confuser for Visual Basic binary?

I've never had a need to confuse/obfuscate my code before but I recently wrote up a project that I certainly don't want others to leech from or take credit for. With that in tow, what program would you recommend? This is my first time embarking on such a task and I have no point of reference or recommendations to look to.

Thanks <3

You can use a free tool

I've seen some of your programs around. Very impressive! I'm sure this is a good recommendation. Thanks!

I do not recommend confuserEX or any free obfuscations as they can easily be fully recompiled with most decompiler including d4dot. Even some paid ones can be decompiled with the right tools and knowledge but certainly makes it harder.

I feel like if someone genuinely takes the time to get the right material and crack the source then it's out of my hands. At least the worked for it. I just didn't want anyone 12yr old with .NET Reflector to easily dive in and grab any snippets, etc. Thanks for the input though 😎 I'll most likely experiment with both, paid and free. ConfuserEX seems to be open source so maybe I'll look into customizing it.

Yeah most out of the box conferex mods can be decompiled with d4dot in about five seconds drag and drop. I like ilorotecor and enigma good paid ones

Fair enough. I'll look into those are well 🙂

I never heard of ilorotecor obfuscator... Can you point me to it's website, i will also take a look at it for my future programs...

It might be a typographical error and meant to be ILProtector.

As stated before, obfuscation has medium to low resilience ratio, even among the most expensive ones they fail to update as often as de-obfuscation tools.
It's a cat and mouse game in the end.

Along with obfuscation, there exists services that allow you to make your program useless if cracked :

port it to a server and make the app server-side, so your customer will only download an interface client with nothing valuable in it.

This prevent absolutely 99% of the cracking attempt. The remaining modified / de-obfuscated binary will be useless if you check for its validity on the server side.

This is how my main service works, and its an obfuscator for .net files ....

instead of deploying the obfuscator and making it accessible to anyone, like Babel Obfuscator that ship the obfuscator logic with the obfuscator binary, I decided to port the obfuscation logic on my server.
So now, there is no way to crack the system to use premium features if your account it not premium.
Keeping the sensible logic unreachable for hackers and crackers allow me to deploy and get updates more often, and adds some resilience to the finished product too

I doubt I would have thought of that. Thanks for the suggestion :)
