Thread that deal originated from: https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?pi...id60710671
Basically, I was looking for someone who could develop an application to generate specific in-game items (see above thread).
Encrypted™️ sent me several DMs on-site (see screenshots) and we agreed on $500 payment via BTC, half up front and half after testing/completion. The project would be completed in a week. Great.
Ultimately the conversation was moved to Discord because it was easier to communicate (see screenshots).
What happened afterwards was slightly unexpected. New fees kept popping up - felt as if it was always something additional (which is fine, I get it, things can change) and the timeframe kept being pushed back.
Then, there was no testing to be done. The tool was completed, but he required more money to release it.
Payments were sent, then he started to disappear and become less responsive. All of a sudden, payments magically ‘didn’t show up,’ he ‘wasn’t home’ and he admitted to ghosting me because he was ‘embarrassed’.
Now here I am 2 weeks later, out nearly $1100 (which isn’t the issue here), which is more than double the budget we agreed on.
At first, I didn’t know about the contract system. When I found out, I generated a contract which has since expired because he did not accept it.
Additionally, he seemed reputable - had a dozen completed contracts, no red flags that I saw. He also used his deal with Nebula Sunrise as clout that he was trustworthy because they’re a huge member on the site.
My issue here is that this user seemed to have taken advantage of a new user, and deliberately mislead and scam. Either that or he got in over his head and wasn’t able to do what he originally promised. I’m not going to sit in silence because I’m a ‘new’ user.
Now, whatever happened happened, and I can’t do anything about it.
But for those considering future deals with this user, operate with caution because this behavior is extremely suspect.
