Is it just me or does it seem like B ratings doing more hurt than good?

I feel like the B rating system is just a better way for scammers to get more money out of someone a lot easier.

It looks like the B rating system actually benefits scammers the same amount that it benefits legit users. You just do a bunch of shit tier deals over and over and build it up easily and then once you get a big fish due to your B rating it's time to exit scam. I feel like having no such thing as B rating would force you to be more cautious about who you are dealing with instead of making you less cautious due to a higher B rating(which essentially doesn't mean anything). Having that rating there just gives the illusion of being legit IMHO. I feel like no deal rating system would be better and safer but more of a hassle without it I guess

You can tell just from the deal disputes section there is ALWAYS people talking about "how high the B rating is and still scammed".

I wasn't here on HF before but I know that the system wasn't always there.

Thoughts? Am I the only one that thinks this? Am I retarded?

Scamming always has and will happen. The B-Rating system is just to minimize the risk of getting scammed. At the end of the day, you can get scammed from literally anyone (from a really reputable member who decided to exit scam or from a user who joined last week).
Even though I despise the members with 1000+ deals done and still being online with 8+ open Disputes, it is a game changer.

No guarantee for a safe trade. As the "Important Rules" show. But it's a huge benefit for noobs and other members who want to make sure someone dealt with a HF Contract and not just a "thanks for deal" post.
Or just deal with middlemen only when dealing online, and then you’re not going to get scammed regardless of b-ratings.
Brating is great. It is why I am so active and conduct alot of my business on HF. Like mentioned above there is always people that are dishonest. Definitely a positive on HF

Hack Forums asks members to deal at their own risk. It literally says so when people are about to start a contract. Therefore, members should check the other persons profile for deal disputes and join date and even if those numbers are satisfactory, a middleman should be used. Then again, mm like KJ exist so...

People who get scammed almost all of the time they don't even know what B-Rating is. Any time a "reputable" member has scammed it was because of their high popularity and a new person would say "But he has high rep so I thought I could trust him" whilst seller has double digit open disputes. I've seen people say they trusted scammers because they were upgraded, should upgrades and popularity be removed also?
This thread makes literally no sense.

B-Ratings shows you ratings of each contract. Just because someone has a high number of ratings doesn't mean they are trustworthy. Neither does a vendor user bar.

Vendors with high ratings, popularity and vouches can exit scam - how do you propose HF prevents that?

If you don't think a higher B rating doesn't indicate you being "more trustworthy" to 90% of the newish users then you are lost. I never asked about which vendors can or can't exit scam. I was stating that B ratings gives the illusion that you won't be scammed to newer members. I don't know how to make it better that's why I didn't give an example of a different one and just asked about other peoples thoughts for discussion

Not sure what on this simple thread doesn't make sense but sorry you couldn't process it

Every system is open to manipulation. That's just life. The examples you gave is people seeming more trustworthy due to high B-Ratings making it easier for them to scam but you have to treat everybody with caution. Without such a rating people would be seen as more trustworthy due to rep or popularity or groups etc & all of these can be misleading just like a B-Rating.

Pretty sure he was holding over $80k lol. Yeah using a middleman on HF is just basically doubling you chances of getting scammed. Might as well just go off of B ratings

It was like 50k or something. MM's probably would reduce scams hugely but of course they can always end up scamming themselves

Yeah that's why I usually don't use middlemen.

If you're dealing with a stranger and feel that they may scam you, introducing ANOTHER stranger that may scam you into the deal and entrusting them with the ENTIRE deal just adds a whole new risk to the deal.

You honestly think B-Ratings increase scams on the forum? How dense are you?
