Hey, so as I’ve just upgraded to Ub3r (yay), I decided I needed to update some of my previous +reps to some good dear people who’ve been very helpful to me, but I realized in doing so that nobody receives a new notification stating so. I mean, it’s not that big a deal but I feel like it’d be pretty convenient and helpful to most considering many people do end up modifying their given reps to users at a certain point in time. I feel that people deserve to know if somebody has updated their previously given rep whether it was (+) or (-).
A few people I’ve talked to on here also thought this would definitely be a neat change/update to consider implementing if the admins decide it’s worth the change.
Just thought I’d put it out there and see your opinions/thoughts on this. Thanks anyways, as always hope you all have a great day!

Providing notifications for popularity updates is intentionally not a feature. Members have tried to abuse it in the past.
DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS MEMBER
Would definitely be nice to be able to see this, but i can definitely see some certain people using it to spam or troll other people. So not really sure how that would play out.
You could spam accounts with notifications if we allowed that.
DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS MEMBER
Maybe just an alternative, to clear up confusion about this.
1. On the popularity page, when someone adds pop for the first time, show "Added on" instead of "Updated on". If they change it, add the "Updated on" part.
2. Maybe, but it also depends on how pop is stored in the backend, have something like "pop history" per member. Would be quite a small/cool addition.

Yeah i can definitely see and understand how that was an issue in the past, but maybe if it’s possible to change/update the +/- rep only once per 24hrs with notification? Or something of the sort?
I understand how people have abused this in the past, it just seems like something that can truly be beneficial to many people who don’t plan on abusing it. Don’t let the turds of the past who have abused this ruin it for everybody else in the future :D I think there can be certain values added (e.g. only able to update a rep WITH giving notification only once per x hours). Or maybe even adding some sort of automated blocking feature/automated notice alert for staff to be notified when a user updates a certain users rep more than x times within x seconds/minutes/hours, and would notify the staff accordingly and/or put a temporary block on that user from updating that specific users rep again. So that way there’s like a safety feature available to avoid/stop people from abusing this again, like in the past.
But otherwise of course it’s just my opinion, I appreciate all yours :) thanks for hearing me out!

Petty vendors already go the extra mile to delete and re-rep for the notification. This just makes it easier to be a nuisance to someone, and now opens that opportunity up to Ub3rs and L33Ts.
IMO, not sure if it’s worth the side effects.
