So Brave is KYC browser if you want to collect BAT? These are probably questions that I should research myself, but if you know already, does Uphold or Gemini share any of the data they collect with Brave or other 3rd parties? Wonder if it's a trade off between collecting the KYC data required to offer crypto rewards (Since Mozilla is American) vs being an ACTUAL privacy focused browser. Brave is indeed a KYC browser IF you want to collect and sell your rewards. Uphold and Gemini are both exchange platforms, which operate under the same data protection laws as other exchange platforms. So Uphold and Gemini aren't any different than, say, Crypto.com, in regards to what they are allowed to do in regards to data sharing and processing. However, I use neither platforms so I haven't read any of their privacy policies so I am not in a position to explain to you in detail what it is they do with your data. ![]()

Praying the best for Brave, hopefully Solana doesn't tarnish them.
Also, I have like $100 in BAT so would be nice to see that go up and see more usages for the Basic Attention Token. Brave is not a KYC browser thankfully, they're anti-KYC if anything. Brave doesn't collect any data or ask for anything. And you don't need to link to Gemini at all in order to collect BAT, and I can exchange my BAT without a KYC verification process on Gemini. Pretty sure you just need to do KYC if you BUY or SELL other crypto on Gemini, using it as a regular exchange.

You're right, Brave itself doesn't ask for any user data, it's just the exchanges that they use to collect rewards on that do. Also I'm not sure where you're located but I just tried linking Gemini to Brave and the first thing Gemini asked me is to go through the plain old KYC process. I did not find an option to just collect them using Gemini without having an account or without doing the KYC process but that's probably because I haven't looked hard enough, seeing how you describe a process without going through KYC? For Gemini, you are required to use your legal name and information when signing up. Same goes for Uphold. This includes sending pictures of official documents. At least that's the process where I am from. Tipping from your Brave wallet works regardless of being signed up to an exchange like Uphold or Gemini, since you don't need to have an account on either platform to send tips. However, if you are a a Brave creator (someone that can receive tips), you need a Gemini or Uphold account to receive the awards which means you need to go through the KYC process of either Uphold or Gemini. ![]() (Nov 8, 2021 12:17 PM)MavenGradle Wrote: Since you can't send BAT to another wallet from your Brave browser, you need to have either a Gemini or Uphold account which means registering and going through their respective KYC processes. ![]() Spoiler (Click to View) (Nov 8, 2021 12:17 PM)MavenGradle Wrote: Since you can't send BAT to another wallet from your Brave browser, you need to have either a Gemini or Uphold account which means registering and going through their respective KYC processes. Not gonna lie that sounds very sketch

So, if you know any good alternatives to Brave or if you're developing one.. Now really is your time to shine! To make things more official, instead of listening to some random internet Maven, let us bring in the official Help Docs of Brave: https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/artic...20to%20KYC.
