New York Times Illegally Sought to Stop Employees from Unionizing

Quote:The New York Times Company illegally deployed union-busting practices against employees to prevent support for the corporation’s tech union, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) alleges this week.

The media corporation, worth more than $1 billion, was hit with union-busting accusations this week in regards to the New York Times Tech Guild — a group of about 650 Times tech employees who unionized in April 2021 but whom the Times has refused to recognize.

According to Reuters, the NLRB accuses the Times of violating federal labor law when executives told employees in May 2021 that they were not allowed to show support for the Times Tech Guild during a virtual meeting.

That's terrible. It must be only the tip of the iceberg of union busting practices by huge corporations that has been going on since the 90s.

Honestly, I'm not surprised. They've been on the lam since Guiliani was in office. It almost felt like they were his personal press office instead of a newspaper. Them and Washington Post (who are now owned by Amazon) definitely live by the moniker "Democracy Dies In Darkness" they always touting. Oh, and a few years back in the mid 2000s when they decided to get their "news" from bloggers was the circling around the drain for both of them.

Right? Journalism seems like a much easier gig these days when they literally get some news from a bunch of tweets.
