I initially downloaded Brave in 2017, but uninstalled it to then reinstall Firefox soon after. Reinstalled Brave around the same time as you did, I definitely don't regret it. Sidenote; I dual boot Qubes OS & Windows, my main being Windows (sadly) for work & gaming.

I personally prefer Brave as it performs better in general, provides the option to browse with Tor, and has other useful privacy-oriented features. Opera definitely has better user functionality features, but Brave's superior privacy and security is more important to me than user functionality. Great reply thanks for filling me in on some details I wasn't aware of. I will have to check it out, but it is always tough for me to change anything up. I used to be a diehard Firefox in my early years, then Chrome, and now Opera. ![]() (Feb 2, 2022 04:40 PM)jcole Wrote: Great reply thanks for filling me in on some details I wasn't aware of. Honestly, it really depends on what you're doing on the browser. Opera is more convenient to use, Brave is more secure. I'm on the road to completely ditching google from my personal computer, using Brave with DuckDuckGo has allowed me to do that with few problems. I used to use Google Chrome thinking it was the best, but not understanding how resource hungry the browser is, and how many issues it has overall with security. ![]() (Feb 2, 2022 05:02 PM)jcole Wrote: I used to use Google Chrome thinking it was the best, but not understanding how resource hungry the browser is, and how many issues it has overall with security. Almost any browser is an improvement from Google Chrome. Alternatives to Opera (rather than Brave) would be: Firefox with customized security settings (arguably better than Brave), and GNU Icecat (another Gecko-based browser, open source & privacy oriented). An honorable mention is Tor, but I believe it is not for your average user; very secure yet slow. Indeed, I had it downloaded for a few months but just started using it as my main browser today. (Feb 2, 2022 05:14 PM)Melted Wrote: Almost any browser is an improvement from Google Chrome. I'm sure there are many more useful things other than the Silk Road that Tor is used for. (Feb 2, 2022 05:17 PM)Carrot Wrote: so very resource hungry! I usually have so many tabs open at once aswell!
