I'm sorry for being a dick these past few weeks and job update.

These past few weeks have been tough. My wife went in for surgery, and we were afraid we would lose our baby, on top of that I had a job interview the day my wife went into the E.R. She told me to go to the interview, so I did it knowing my wife was in the emergency room. I was afraid, I was nervous, I spent the weekend sleeping in my car in the hospital parking lot. On top of this all, I've been having the worst side effects from a new prescription and have been forced to take pain meds for a toothache. Really, just a lot of pain and anxiety. When I hurt, like an animal, I lash out.

I knew I would get the job I was interviewing for, as it was opened for me, though they had to interview other people. I knew this job would really help my family, especially with a new baby on the way. Today my boss pulled me into a conference room and asked me how much money I make, I calculated 42k, which is about 10k less than my wife 😤. She asked how much I was hoping to get, and I told her I wanted as close to my wife's as I could get. I'll say right now that I was expecting around 52k, my job is not that hard, I just help a lot of people. My boss likes to fuck with me sometimes, and I saw a smirk cross her face.

"How does 70 sound?"

I'm still in shock. The actual amount is 72.8k. I have a call in about 30 minutes to discuss benefits and everything else that comes with the position.

Then she tells me that the position I was getting usually gets paid less than 72, but she put me in for a higher paygrade. I had to stop myself from crying because these people have already been so kind to me. They've been so understanding when I need to leave short notice, they've supported my self learning and trained me in anything I've asked to be trained in. They make sure to ask about my family, and they've all gone out on a limb to vouch for me. I have never felt more appreciated in my life.

There is nothing I can do or say that would express my level of gratitude for these people.

On top of all this, my wife is okay, and our baby is doing well. God has answered my family's prayers and provided everything we need.
I’m so happy for you man.
Stay strong and I wish you all the best in your life and journeys ahead of you and your family.

Thank you! I've been very low for quite some time. I hated that my family is so poor, my wife's parents told her not to marry me as I would never be able to provide for her. I feel happy now knowing that I may just prove them wrong after all. For now I have 3 years to prove myself as an asset to this company, if I can do that and turn a 3 year contract into something permanent, I'll be set. This industry is a huge one and will only continue to grow as technology advances.

This is you’re chance to prove them all wrong!
And to show you’re beloved wife that you are not a loser and that you can provide for her.
But don’t forget that your wife loves you, since she still married you even tho the family didn’t want to.
This is love mate, love at its finest.
Enjoy every millisecond of it.

You are loved don’t forget that!

As long as you're open to discussion, which is what you do, it's alright.

Good job! I hope you'll get nice position. It is certainly an impressive amount!
I currently make 25k which isn't much, but it's my first job as a webdev.
In a couple of months I will get a revaluation of my contract and surely hope to get more.

I currently make more than my parents ever made, so it's a delightful feeling to get my family on the right path. I kinda know how you feel.

The Netherlands, but I'm an immigrant..
My parents came here in 2001, and I personally got my permanent residency a year ago.
So, I just got my documents sorted.

Anyway, it has been all up since a year ago, so I'm already happy with how it is going. My life could have been much worse.

If you don't mind me asking, what industry are you in?

I am working as a Django web developer, but it's my first real W-2 Software job so I am not making a lot yet.

I'm sure you appreciate your place in the Netherlands more than most who were born there. We natives of beautiful and safe countries often take it all for granted.

I work for a small semiconductor company. My goal is to work for one of the big names (TWSM, Intel, AMD) for discounts on CPUs 😆

But I don't work in the factories or anything, I'm just a lab tech.

disgusting

I'm able to admit when I was wrong. Maybe that's a breath of fresh air for some people. Others, it seems, are unable to get over things.

Thought I had you blocked.

Anyway, I've ignored a pretty good chunk of people who seem to be unable to get along with me. If not for their own good, than for mine. I'm not saying I was wrong in what I said, just sorry in the way I've said them.

So with that being said, I am sorry to people I may have been rude to with the exception of those I've ignored. For them I've just chosen not to think about them beyond this last comment.
