i just remembered source needs updating but it should take less than 5 - 10 mins to update, i'll throw it to ya for $25 if you want and I'll remove it from the thread.

code is surprisingly simple and every time it's patched you just need to swap out a key in the program.

Lots of different tricks, lots of different methods. As long as you're not web-scraping, your price is as valid as any. Hats of to you for your honesty and good luck with sales, some of these projects look interesting.

Slow, less efficient, needs to be updated when the site changes, sometimes illegal, whereas API's generally remain stable and you get notified if changes occur.

Some API's allow you to register on the spot, meaning you can build a tool that checks the availability using an RDAP API, and you can instantly register it and it will withdraw the required amount from your balance. Way less work to use API's, way cleaner, way more legal, way more efficient. This is how the big boys operate if you don't account for all the companies that have their own registrar services.
